And I ran across a small problem. The stock reservoir is in the way a little. So far I've only mounted the pod inlets to the side panels, the pan is just taped on to see how it looks.

Here's where it's pushing the side panel out a lot, it's maybe an inch too far out. I can push it in to the back side of the pod plastic, but it's stressed pretty hard.

Any suggestions? This one will be getting a custom pipe, not one I would normally make.

The stock coolant res? Remove that, it's useless. Use a catch bottle for overflow.

Dean, you could do what JD sez. Weird, though... I didn't have a problem with the stock OF reservoir interfering with fit.

Albert - just don't paint it black, orange and silver - bad things happen when you do (twice).

When considering a new coolant overflow bottle... does it HAVE to be made of plastic or composite? Or could one fabricate something out of stainless steel and mount it in the upper fairing.

Dean, I'm not sure why the fairing isn't fitting over the right side pod with the factory reservoir. I wonder if EBR ever had to mess with stuff like this?

Going to the track with that bodywork, Dean?

No, wouldn't have to be plastic, just something that won't corrode from the coolant and water

From what I've heard... this is Dean's new super secret exhaust build prototype. He's been pretty frustrated and tight lipped about it though.

not much room in there for an exhaust.

Nope, not a whole lot of space.

On a side note, I am going on the assumption that the cam-loc fasteners are riveted to the outside of the side panel, although it's under the bellypan and hidden. I tried to fasten one with it on the inside, but it's just a little bit too tight to lock into place.

The fasteners go behind... u need longer quarter turn bits. Get them from milspec

+1 on JD. The camlocks worked perfectly during fit-up. Once painted, though, try as I might they wouldn't fit with the bits provided - the screws were just barely too short and I stripped the phillips slots out of a couple before I figured out they wouldn't work. I ended up using Dzus and they worked fine.

Got about 7 spares? Mounted the back part on the inside, got 2 of the 6 I have installed to actually catch, the rest are just too tight to get over the bump.

Hmmm if they don't work, then why is GSD sending folks incorrect parts in the kit?

Is Pete aware of this?

Cory, looks like there's enough room in there for an RT-4 (version 2), but it may need modification to make it work. The original RT-4 will not fit. The 4" shells make it too wide. Running the 3.5" shells parallel will definitely fit and the v2 version will probably require trimming of the pan for the outlets. I sent EBR both versions that I had here, so I'm currently unable to test fit one to check it for sure.

As far as the mounting kit, it appears the 1/4 turn "bolt" needs to be about .015-.020" longer. I suppose sanding it down to fit would work, but I'd rather have the longer parts.

Ok, found these, is this the one you meant Jim? Looks like it's adjustable depth.

Correct, Dean.

Milspec parts are purchased according to panel thickness. There's a little number on the quarter-turn... that's an indicator of the panel thickness the fastener is intended for.

These are very nice fasteners and hardware. I use the bail head models.

So, I ended up measuring the existing cam-loc fasteners. Total length is .805" which should make them part # 26S51-3 based on that measurement. According to the milspec website (yes, these are milspec parts) it should fit from .090-.119" thick material. The bodywork I have here measured about .055" individually at the edges, but together they must go over the .119" max thickness from the fiberglass weave or gel coating. Wasn't a totally accurate measurement, but from what I could get at the holes, it's about .122" or so.

The parts are not clearly marked, but I'm assuming it's the one above. Only the back piece is marked milspec. The bolt is marked with a #2 which fits a #2 philips screwdriver.

Sounds like tolerances.

Depending on their molding process, they probably don't have super tight control on the thickness and interior dimensions.

That was my thinking as well Sprintst. It is very likely that when Pete put their kit together that it fit together just fine.

Hey Dean, how did this project come out in the end? Get a chance to test fit any of your other pipes with the fairing fully bolted up?
