While riding tonight I hid a pothole pretty hard going about 20mph and the front end made a very loud noise..kind of like a thud or thunk. I hit it straight on and it rode fine afterwards. I inspected it when I got home..no damage to the rim and no fluid on the fork legs. Seems fine and I suspect the suspension bottomed out but the noise was bad enough to freak me out. I'll inspect it again before I ride it but I just wanted to know if anybody has any input on this. Was the first time this happened to me and the noise was unusual enough to get my attention. Yah, sounds like it just bottomed Keep an eye on it for leaks, but sounds like you are okay | ||

Grab the front brake lever and straddle the bike in the garage. Push down as hard as you can on the bars, repeatedly, to move the suspension as far through its travel as you can. Noises / lack of noises should tell you if you're OK. Also, check your steering head bearing play. Same as a hard wheelie, the impact may have driven your lower race further up into the frame, shortening the distance between the bearings, effectively making your steering "looser". | ||
