Picked up my 1125R after a new engine was installed under warranty and the battery light came on when I would stop at a light. HD picked up the bike, kept it for almost two weeks, said they replaced the stator and voltage regulator and I could come get it.
Rode the bike home, no issues, went for a ride two days later and after 30-40 min. on the bike, the same thing happened. HD picked up the bike, they called and said that they were going to install the wiring harness upgrade; I should have the bike back within 5-7 days.
I have had the bike for more than a year, put over 3000 miles on it and have never had this issue (battery light), any clues as to what is going on.

Your stator/regulator WILL fail every 4000 miles. I've got an 09 that I started riding in march 2010. Did about 8 months on it before season was over. Pulled it back out in march got another 5 months been in shop this season for 4 months. 13,000+ miles on the odometer and $7,000.00 to $8,000.00 in factory Warrenty later guess how many sators/voltage I've been thru??? Just divide by 4

I have over 13,000 miles on the warranty stator. The original went at 2,200 miles with the harness. 15,000+ miles on my CR now.

Labor is a major determinant in the service life of the part. Without the right tools and/or a tech that doesn't know what he is doing?

Latus HD has serviced my Bike.

I know I'm going to jinks myself now, but I'm on stator #3 and it seems to be holding up after nearly 3,000 miles.

That's a bit overstated.

Stator failure is a factor of rider habit and application/environment.

They are unfortunately quite common among commuters, and those bikes that see a lot of lower RPM use.

My previous stator lasted 2500 miles... All of which was ridden in the LA Basin. Some fast-hi rpm canyon riding... most in traffic, in the heat, engine between 190-205Degrees, lotsa idling and pootling along between the endless lines of cars. Then finding gaps/breaks and accelerating hard to the next gummed up section of clustered fools. Very hard on any bike, but after doing this basically all my life, the only bike to ever give me electrical probs is this one.
