It was just in the shop for 2 months, $2,500 in parts and labor. She came home and I put 400+ miles on her (380 in one day) 3 weeks later clutch goes bad. $675 later and 2 weeks later she's back 10 miles later (this morning) the starter switch stopped starting. I tried about 10 times going slow cause I know it's cold but then she just gave up the ghost. Turn the key and all is normal. Hit the switch and nothing at all. Nada sound.

Do y'all think it will work when it's warmer

I had the same problem with mine at the track one day. Luckily the EBR truck was there and a whole bunch of folks helped me get push strated so I could lap. When I came in to pit, a kind EBR tech took a look at it and told me to stop by the shop the next day. I bought a new starter switch from them and haven't had any issues since.

I was told that the contacts in the switch can wear out over time, or become corroded as with any motorcycle part. In my case, they were corroded from moisture and humidity. I opened up the old switch and the contacts just needed to be touched up. I ended up saving the new switch in case I ever need to just swap one again. The old one works fine after cleaning it.

Here's what I would do...

First, look for any binding, pinching or fraying in the triple tree area where the wires are secured.

Second, check all fuses and see if you can get the bike to start by wiggling (move and hold) the wires around the triple tree.

Third, if you still have the issue, then take the switch off and open it up. Clean the contacts and check the wires to make sure they are all connected and good to go.

That should get ya fixed up. Just be patient. It's just a little gremlin, you can fix it easy and it can happen to anyone.

Just be glad you weren't at the track and had to go through a push start embarrassment.

If none of that works... let me know and I'll look some stuff up in the service manual for ya.

Everything will work out man, just take it one step at a time.

Head out to the garage, turn on some good music and crack open a beer and snuggle up to the machine and get frisky with it. By frisky I mean, use logic and patience to address these little gremlins. At some point in your relationship, you are so tuned into the bike or machine that you can tell what's wrong by a simple vibration or sound.

My Silverado SS had a needle bearing going out on the front differential and I knew exactly what it was as soon as the vibrations started. I'm the same way with transmissions... (I hate transmissions btw... hate hate hate working on them.)

This is just a little TLC issue most likely. Go get frisky with it and wring her neck once you get her fixed up. Good luck!

How were you able to push start it if the button wasn't making contact???

The bike will start if the run button works. I turned the key on, made sure the kill switch wasn't on and then they started pushing while I held the clutch in, once we got to about 10-15 MPH I dropped the clutch and opened the throttle and took off down around the track.

My issue was the actual starter switch contacts. So when I'd hit the starter switch it wouldn't turn over...or do anything. Even though the key was on, the kill switch was off and the bike was in neutral.

The switch can be taken apart and cleaned if needed. Its really easy to clean the contact points

Yeah. I love my bike and maybe I'll get another or the 1190 but mine has around $7k-$8k in Warrenty work in the last 12 months of of riding. And about 5 months of down time. Not to mention the stator prob hasn't been fixed yet. So "F" it I'm going lemon law
