What did the harness update actually do?
How will the harness update with ebrs new stator package?

Should i yank it off for city driving or keep it in there?

Harness is suppose to keep the stator cool while riding at engine speeds above idle... Since the EBR stator is low output, I would have to assume, no harness

I think harness mainly works at idle. After they finally properly installed it, it drops the voltage to around 13 volts at idle. 14 volts above idle.

True.. At idle the relay closes the circuit and all 3 wires send power..

No, it's vice versa. At idle relay disconnects one of the wires. But I think it does it intermittently. I tried to pull the relay, and the voltage then dropped to 12.5 volts, compared to 13 volts with a relay.

I drove around with a bad relay all summer..voltage at idle would drop to 11.8.. Off idle I would be around 12.6 to 14.2.. After I replaced the relay, idle voltage went up to 13.3 and off idle stayed the same as before the new relay...

So ehats best for city driving? Yanking it off or leave it? Im gonna buy the ebr stator kit.

If you get the ebr kit, take it off.

Why?

Just leave it. If the system calls for more V, the relay will allow it. Why remove a safeguard?

Here's an idea.

ASK EBR.

Short. To the point. Let us know what they say.

I emailed EBR and they said to remove the harness.

So there you have it, from the horse mouth so to speak.

You should see 13.7-14+ volts at idle if all three stator legs are working. That's with the fans running.

This thread is hysterical. I'm not sure there is much fact in this thread except maybe Sfguy.

Harness function:

Pin 21 of the ECM is grounded according to set logic in the ECM:
Less than 2000 rpm and greater than 4500 rpm.
This causes the relay in the harness to close as it draws power from the "noid" circuit when this pin is grounded.
The relay closing ENGAGES all 3 legs of the stator. This should be MAX charging in accordance with the stator's capability (highly RPM dependent).
Between 2k and 4500 rpm the pin is NOT grounded so the relay is OPEN. This puts the stator in a single-leg configuration. This GREATLY limits stator output.

I highly doubt you will see 13.7-14V AT IDLE. The electric diagnostic manual says 3k rpm should result in 13V (note: this value is NOT valid w/ harness). That would lead me to believe 13.7-14V at idle would be "nice", but not a sign of proper function.

Good luck.

All 3 legs are not always running below 2k. That may be true for a cold start, but once up to op temp it will not be on all 3 legs at idle. If yours is always running on 3 legs at idle your stator will eventually fry.
