Well that is the question I have the Erik Buell Racing upper triple tree and clip ons. Now i need a clutch master cylender and a brake master cylender with remote resivoirs to use. Do i have to go Brembo or does anyone know of any Jap bike take off alternatives?

I dropped the coin and went with the Brembo's. No complaints. There are some other options out there, try the Racing Board.

Most gixxer ones will fit, I had one from a k7 for a while, then upgraded to a MAGURA. I also have a Ducati 1098 brembo clutch MC which is cool.

I use the Accasato, less expensive than Brembo, and is a better unit. Erik Buell Racing 1190rs uses Accasato also. Works great!

Lots of good options. I like the Brembo RCS19, because for $100 more than the other nice MCs, you get folding levers that are pretty cheap to replace and an adjustable ratio that's a nice control over the feel.

Highly recommended.

I have a RCS19 and love it, Brembo and Accasato are both excellent units and you can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for the advice guys. Does anyone know if there is a brake light switch available for the Brembo or the Nissin/ I am leaning towards the nissin at the moment due to budget

The Brembo RCS19 has a mechanical switch option.

Many track riders will argue the 1125r bars are way to *high* in stock position. So, if you use proper clip-ons and lower the bars into a more traditional race position, the stock MC's res is incompatible with the stock triple clamp, and many aftermarket clip ons, such as the ones on the Erik Buell Racing site, because the tube clamps get in the way.

You don't have much choice other than to remote the res with a typical race ergonomic.

Your set-up pictured above might work for a street rider, but it's going to promote a lot of bad habits for someone doing trackdays or racing.

somewhat dumb question time...

How do you determine what size to use? If i understand correctly the diameter in mm x throw? so RCS19 is 19x18 (19mm bore w/ 18mm compression?) I see they have a 19x20 - is that better?

Let me clarify use - street primarily w/ eventual track days. Feel seems decent currently w/ stock setup (rotor/pads).

I am curious to the improvement it would give. power and feel w/ no other changes.

Is there really any difference between Brembo, Accossato, Nissin when switching to a radial mc? why?

Is there an improvement worthy of the $$ going from the regular 19x18 to the RCS19?

thanks for the schooling!

"Is there an improvement worthy of the $$ going from the regular 19x18 to the RCS19?"

It depends on who you talk to, of course, but the 'non-adjustable' Brembos may be getting phased-out to non-available, at least on the clutch side. And - word is Brembo will soon be offering rebuild kits for the RCS's.

sorry for the hijack. thanks Nuts - i see the difference between the standard 19x18 and RCS19 now.

I'll search for comparisons between the 3, and how much improvement just the MC switch to radial really makes...

S133py: I use a Nissin on my 12R, with a 6 pot caliper, and the improvement is significant. I can even feel the irregularities in the stock rotor through the lever. You really need to try the two side-by-side. The difference is huge. The stock one feels mushy once ya try it.

Red - sorry for the total hijack of your thread!

Thx Gunut. If you have the nissin did you need to use a pressure switch for your brake light? pics if you have them. which Nissin?

Is there a way to compare the bore between stock MC and radial (equal to 19mm or 16mm or ...?)?

Anyone Seattle area want to meet and show me how much better a radial MC is...? ; )

No worries about thread jacking. Its a good discussion. I am going to look into the Nissins due to the budget so I have to ask about brake light switch. Any ideas on how to make it work?

Red - what i've heard is you need a pressure switch...

Gunut - how did you wire your brake light? Pics of your setup (close if you can). I'm curious too. The RCS19 has a spot for a micro switch which is mechanical, but not cheap for sure.

Stirz - both sides - RCS19 on brake, what on clutch? And how did you wire your brake switch?

Clutch - RCS19 - see earlier post for picture. No brake switch (no brake light, so not needed) - there is a version available with microswitch. No clutch interlock, either - I have to be in neutral to start.

You can get banjo bolts with built-in pressure switch, so you can set up almost any levers to provide a brake light signal if you get into a 'bind'.

I went with the matching nissins that were on ebay. Called the shop and got them both, shipped, for well under $400. A pretty good budget improvement over stock for less than one RCS without the needed reservoir!

The vortex clip ons from Erik Buell Racing are stout but in retrospect I should have gotten a clamshell type.
