The Erik Buell Racing ECM will be in tomorrow!
Does this sound like the right procedure if not please correct me!
1, Disconnect the battery
2, Pull the left pod off and reinstall the new Erik Buell Racing ECM
3, Install pod and connect the battery
4, Do a TPS reset
5, Start the bike let it idle for 10 mins and ride?

That is all correct. There will be instructions with the Erik Buell Racing ecu.

Per the instructions, the error codes are normal.

Let me say the bike ran fing awesome! Where I always hit redline in first and second gear I shifted flawlessly! The ride seems so smooth. I wasn't slowing down and then shifting into a higher gear to flow through the corner.

I thought E_B_R ECMs for 1125 do not require TPS zeroing. It does it automatically at every start. No? I recall reading it somewhere either here or the actual instruction.

It will continuously reset as you ride if you actually go full throttle.... but you still want to make sure it is correct right from the get go. Nothing like riding a high horsepower machine with an iffy throttle : )

E_B_R ECM Instruction Sheet:

"TPS Zeroing:
DDFI3 race ECMs are programmed to auto zero the Throttle Position Sensor when they are initially powered up. Be sure your throttle is fully closed when initially keying on your motorcycle after installing your ECM."

So no need to manually zero TPS.

Interesting, because the instruction sheet with my ECM SPECIFICALLY walked me through the TPS reset process, and indeed, it was part of the installation instructions.

Maybe the difference is that my ECM was for the stock airbox/exhaust? I can't find the instruction sheet now, but the TPS reset was definitely part of the installation procedure. I didn't even know how to do it until I installed it and saw the instructions.

The instruction was the same for all three ECMs (R stock, R Barker, CR stock) I got.

don't forget that your mpg will drop significantly. don't make the mistake of getting into the country and running out of gas on your first long ride like i did.

That's interesting as my MPG is much better with the race ECM ?? I know it's all relevant but stock the light would come on around 100 miles and race I get about 120 miles, more if I'm just cruising but that's not often.

Okay, you people had me convinced I was losing my mind. I should know by now to trust my memory. Here are the instructions that came with MY Erik Buell Racing Race ECU. As you can see, it SPECIFICALLY STATES that I have to reset the TPS after installation.

Crap... for some reason it's not letting me attach the PDF as was done above. Let's try this link instead:

http://www.nassauwings.org/test/Race_ECU.pdf

And I just noticed this matches the graphic Froggy posted exactly. Just scroll up and you'll see the instructions DO specifically say that the TPS has to be reset, so they AREN'T all exactly the same.

Fuel economy improves due to the engine running more efficiently.

But fuel economy decreases because you won't be able to keep your hand out of the throttle.
