I installed the barker's exhaust in my 1125cr and noticed that my header pipes were touching. I called the Barker's guys and he told me it was because the exhaust setup in the CR's may be a little different.

Has anyone else put this system on their Rs and had the same problem?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe there aren't any differences in the mounting of the exhaust systems between an R and a CR.

Craigsmoney - The front and rear headers are close. Did you have to push the new exhaust into it's mounting position, twisting the headers causing them to touch?

Not the best fit! The Jardine was much nicer fit!
I had to force the pipe on which I believe is causing my afv's to be off. It seems I had trouble getting it in the rear collector pipe.
I just went out and bought Mega Gray High temp gasket maker that is sensor safe (for the 02). I would recommend you do the same to make sure you don't have an exhaust leak. Just my 2cent's!

Fran-dog - Yes the headers moved a bit. with the stock exhaust the pipes are separated by about 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch.

I had to remove my front header and dent it so they wouldn't touch. My friend is coming with his R and I'll try it on his.

1125Rcya - I used some copper silicone to seal up the rear header. It was leaking.

So it seems to me that the CR may be different from the R, or is the exhaust itself faulty.

Really? the pipes touching is causing your AFV's to be off? Made me chuckle.

I don't have a barkers, but i do have a HMF pi}pe and i know to install it i needed to loosen the front header. this made my job a lot easier without the need to "FORCE" anything. When dealing with any exhaust on any ride, you should loosen the system up fit everything together, then tighten it back up. Heat has a funny way of distorting the metal pipes.

stevek1125r - I'll try loosening my front header and reinstalling it all.

I've got a reply on UK buellers, and a guy said that the ecm is smart enough to relearn. is that true? How long would that take?

thaks for the info guys!!

the ECM is smart enough to learn, but it won't learn enough to fully compensate. a tune is needed to ensure the bike doesn't run lean.

the AFV's being off is telling you that the ECM has adjusted the fueling already.

get the Race ECM.. it will make a world of difference
