was thinking about putting holes in my rotor since the 08 has them and read a post that said erik buell recommended a small hole drilled in a very specific spot on the rotor would cure the problem. post was from early 09 from a very put off owner. aprillia forum has heat pictures showing difference a compufire regulator made.

i dont think opposing holes in the rotor would put it out of balance too much. even one small hole in one side. probably @ .25gram for a 3/16 hole? these motors don't seem very balanced anyway. pretty beefy bottom end it seems if ebr is making 200hp with same cases?

I'm looking at a photo on my phone of the 08 rotor i bought and I can't see any holes... I'll take a look tonight to be certain but I don't recall seeing any.

I also don't recall Erik Buell Racing recommending anyone drill any holes in their rotors...

The pics from the Aprillia forum have been posted on heer before too..

might be cheaper/faster/easier to run more oil in the bike..need to have some kind of temperature measuring device to justify the changes...whether it's holy rotors or increased oil levels...got to record data.

Steve_a mentioned the rotor changes in a thread related to his magazine review of the 1190RS. Steve_a is apparently an ex-Buell engineer...

Don't know about holes in the rotor but I think Steve_a mentioned once that an oil jet (somewhere?) might solve the stator heat issue. But details regarding this idea haven't shown up here yet, not counting the article Posplayer found on drilling the rotor nut on a Yamaha which metered a small amount of oil onto the stator. Maybe this would work on the 1125s?

I am seriously thinking about milling windows out the rotor like a compufire or many other rotors. balancing shouldn't be too hard. does any one know how thick of stock they are made from?

I wonder if there is a service manual out yet on the 1190RS, if so then maybe we could get an idea of this new charging layout.

A balanced 1125 rotor with holes drilled at an angle so centrifugal force would spray oil directly on the stator! :-)

Problem is, the 1190 rotor doesn't have holes drilled in it.

They're *machined*.

Difference.
