i was wondering if anyone has used royal purple max cycle 10-40 in their 1125?
i've used syn-3 (too harley), repsol 10-50 ( sexy smooth shifting but didn't last long), and amsoil (some reason its using a little & trans is not as smooth).

just wondering if anyone has tried it out?

I'm currently trying it in my XB12S.
So far so good. Seems the "trash" from the chain has lessened a bit from the previous oil. The engine seems just a little quieter from the internal noise. No difference clutch wise.

I've got Mobil 1 car oil in my 1125. I'm leaving it for now. It's served me well for about 20 years now, not leaving any time soon.

I have not used Royal Purple Max Cycle. However, I am inclined to stay away from Royal Purple motor oils because used oil analysis on one of our Rovers showed poor shear stability of RP 10W-40 "car" oil. This oil had the lowest final viscosity of any synthetic oil I tested in the Rovers despite having the most highway miles.

Amsoil 20W-50
Makes the bike shift smoother, and it runs a few degrees cooler.
Gives you a nice warning too, when the shifting gets rough, its time to change the oil.

One of the major drag racing crankshaft shop owners refers to RP as "purple death"..he says it is hard on roller bearings because of it's poor impact properties...
