i was wondering if anyone has used royal purple max cycle 10-40 in their 1125? i've used syn-3 (too harley), repsol 10-50 ( sexy smooth shifting but didn't last long), and amsoil (some reason its using a little & trans is not as smooth). just wondering if anyone has tried it out? | ||

I'm currently trying it in my XB12S. So far so good. Seems the "trash" from the chain has lessened a bit from the previous oil. The engine seems just a little quieter from the internal noise. No difference clutch wise. I've got Mobil 1 car oil in my 1125. I'm leaving it for now. It's served me well for about 20 years now, not leaving any time soon. Mike | ||

I have not used Royal Purple Max Cycle. However, I am inclined to stay away from Royal Purple motor oils because used oil analysis on one of our Rovers showed poor shear stability of RP 10W-40 "car" oil. This oil had the lowest final viscosity of any synthetic oil I tested in the Rovers despite having the most highway miles. http://hildstrom.com/projects/oil/ | ||

Amsoil 20W-50 Makes the bike shift smoother, and it runs a few degrees cooler. Gives you a nice warning too, when the shifting gets rough, its time to change the oil. | ||
