Hi All,

Can anyone tell me how many wheel bearings are in the rear wheel of a stock ’09 1125R.
Some threads have suggested three bearings but the dealer says his diagram shows only two.
On a recent tyre change, I noticed my rear wheel has some lateral play. Wheel is torque to manual specification. 72 Nm (52ft-lbs)
On reading various threads, general consensus seems to be that the stock ‘orange’ wheel bearings are problematic.
I have 7500 ‘enthusiastic’ miles on my ’09 1125R and suspect the bearings might be on their way.
The bike is still under warranty and my HD dealer say they will replace.

Don’t want to be stuck miles away from home in my HD dealer... thanks in anticipation.

09 model year rear wheel drive side bearing failed at 1900 miles due to corrosion, pressure washer never used.

Thanks for the fast responses guys.
I've asked if the 3 bearing '10 upgrade would be possible but the dealer says only like for like under warranty... but black seal bearings...

at least you're getting the corrected bearings. we've had a few here in the states that had really good dealers to upgrade the wheel under warranty.

I bought new bearings for my 09 rear wheel and not from the MOCO either, go to a bearing stockist if out of warranty and save money as well as getting better bearings

In the UK, some Dealers make up Warranty 'rules' as it suits them. My '08 1125 has a later water pump and a Rev B clutch cover fitted under Warranty with the full knowlege of HD (UK) - I've exchanged emails with several 'suits' from the Oxford HQ. These parts are not like for like.
There is only one Buell friendly dealer left in the UK that I know of, if you contact me via PM on UKBEG.COM, where I Moderate, then I'll put you in touch with the Dealer Principal who will do his level best for you. I don't want to name him publically since our site is spied upon by folk from the MoFuCo.

Several Badweb Uly riders that had rear wheel bearing failures under warranty after the 2010's were introduced have gotten 2010 replacement rear wheels at no additional charge. Rear wheel bearing problems have been fairly common with Ulys. The dealer will only do the wheel upgrade if the bearing failure winds up damaging the wheel itself; sometimes the failures take out the wheel, axle, AND swingarm. I expect they'd do the same thing for an 1125 IF you have a bearing failure that damages the wheel.

If the bearing fails without damaging the wheel, they'll likely just install the latest black seal bearings, introduced around mid-2009 IIRC. If you do the wheel upgrade on your own, the parts including the wheel, bearings, seals, spacer, and axle are around $400.
