i had a 09 cr last yr, all stock, installed a FMF apex, denoided, and thats it, bike ran very good with minimal poping on decel or when chopping the throttle, i just bought a different 09 cr, fmf, ebr ecm, k&n air filter and de noided, POPS LIKE HELL on de cel, almost so much that i wanna pull the fmf off! fresh gas, former owner said its always done it, has 3600 miles, runs well, just the damn popping, any ideas???

Make sure where it slips together that it was sealed with some high temp sealer, or it will have small leaks.

Which Erik Buell Racing ecm is installed. I just went from the Erik Buell Racing ECM tuned for a stock exhaust to one tuned for the HMF and the popping on decel went away. Plus the bike runs so much smoother now. Might be worth looking into.

Mine is a 09 R fmf slip-on, K&N, race ecm programmed for fmf. It pops a little on decel but nothing major or terrible just a little bit around 4k rpm.

Check exhaust first, like Cptncreme suggested seal it up.

removed exhaust, had high temp on it, cleaned up, put on fresh black high temp, let set overnight..test rode same popping, bike does not pop much at all cold, first 3-4 miles all good, or a cold morning/night much better, bike gets hot, pops likes a mother trucker
