I've posted this before - Call me impatient I guess!!! Speaking of this though, I think CW named the 1190RS as 2011's best superbike, yet no full test on it? I am hoping they are holding out for a HUGE feature on this bike - like a 1/4 of the magazine. I feel it's warranted and thats not the Buellaid talking, I sincerely believe this bike is the 'one' I've been waiting for someone to make. Ok, rant over... carry on.

Love to see it

Gonna hate to read it

Prediction - the electronics will make the magazine favor the other bikes

Wow! Electronics that can telepathically force journalists to write a bogus opinion; I had no idea the technology had advanced that far. ; )

Lap times rule the track.

Meaning that they may help reduce lap times for some riders, but it remains to be seen if that will be enough to best an 1190RS. I'd say no given the 1190's known performance on the track against much more sophisticated electronics.

Simply don't have the budget at the moment to sacrifice a couple of bikes to a magazine test fleet as would be needed. So unlikely to happen soon.

Blake, I'll wager that even if the Erik Buell Racing has faster lap times, the articles will talk about how the S1000RR or a Ducati superbike is easier with the electronics

Lap times don't rule magazine articles, new and kewl does

IDK about you but I laugh at car and bike magazines. As a 16 year old back in 1969 Car and Driver tested a 1969 z/28 and 1969 boss 302. On every aspect zero to what ever, braking distances....everything was the same although they admitted the boss had more low end grunt. If that were so the Boss would be better with 0-30 or 0-40mph or ... At 16 I realized the magazines were all working for their advertisers.

Lap times don't rule magazine articles, advertisers do!

I agree the lack of an electronics package will limit any reviewer except old school purists.

Traction control and wheelie control are becoming the norm especially with pricey bikes. It's what the public wants and regardless of track times people want bragging rights. They want things that make the job easier and safer.

I would bet it would be at the top of the 'cons' list.

I still want one....

well idk about that...i mean they did give it a PERFECT 5 OUT OF 5 STARS, and due to that they had to write "Yes, it's really that good!" or something to that extent...i think when/if this ever does happen, Erik and the Elves will get some hard earned and deserved recognition. I just wish i could find out a quarter of "the making of Erik Buell Racing" stories court has to greater appreciate their endeavors.

"2011 Best Superbike"

Yeah, the magazines are going to be looking to rag on it. rolleyes

Pessimists and naysayers are irritating. The bring-down artists of the internet. <sigh> Get the @#$% away from me and BadWeB. Seriously.

You can't wait to see an article, but will hate to read it? You'll have to suffer through just ragging on the bike for its lack of the latest whiz-bang electro-gadgetry without a magazine comparison article. Just please do it somewhere else.

Annon - perhaps a gracious and altruistic customer of Erik Buell Racing will loan their new purchase out for some kind of gentle testing. I feel (one of) the greatest attribute(s) of this bike is exactly how well it will stack up against its peers.

>>> Prediction - the electronics will make the magazine favor the other bikes

quote:

The individual parts are the best money can buy, but the holistically designed 1190RS is even better than the sum of its parts. Exceptional mass centralization, revised chassis geometry and radically reduced unsprung weight let the bike handle unlike any motorcycle we've ridden before. Agile at any speed, it's remarkably responsive and dead-nuts neutral even under very aggressive trail-braking-the exact opposite of the heavy-steering, slow-turning 1125R. Blade-sharp reflexes mean you can always tighten your line, even in the fastest corners, allowing the bike to carve through Road America's Carousel and Kettle Bottoms on unimaginable trajectories.

May claims the 1190RS streetbike is quicker out of the box than his 1125RR racebike, and this is completely plausible. The superlight machine feels preternaturally fast, accelerating with an urgency that surpasses even BMW's overdog S1000RR.

They didn't even mention anything about traction control or the like. The author must be a competent rider.

I can't wait to see a comparo for this bike against the liter bikes, even though it costs a lot more. There was an angry Sport Rider Magazine reader who's letter got published because he was angry that they had the Ducati 1198SP in the test instead of the new Buell against the liter bikes. Hahaha

I don't know how I would predict a shootout article. I have to say that I do think the magazines tend to love gadgetry, but they also seem to love the "raw" and "pure" qualities that underscore truly exceptional motorcycles.

In any case, I would love to read about the 1190RS, just for the mental imagery of perhaps one day being able to own something so fantastic.
