Author Message   Rogue_biker Posted on Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 05:21 pm:        So I'm looking at the Erik Buell Racing ECM and they mention an ECM for stock exhaust WITH catalyst and one without catalyst. I didn't know they made them without a catalyst. Is the OEM exhaust without a catalyst freer flowing than the OEM exhaust with the catalyst? Are these exhaust interchangeable in a 2008 California 1125R? Will my OEM ECM work with an OEM exhaust without a catalyst? I plan to paint the non-cat OEM muffler the high temperature Black paint so the finish doesn't matter. I just care that it is dent-free. Mine is kind of dented and a bit chipped and has a few rust spots. Instead of taking that off and repainting, I figure I'd get a used one, take my time re-finishing it, then install. I was planning on getting the Erik Buell Racing ECM anyway along with the K&N filter.   Bigblock Posted on Monday, August 22, 2011 - 12:39 pm:        If possible, get a NON- cat muffler, they sound and flow noticeably better than a cat- muffler. None of them really look good enough for me. It seems all of them look minimalist, and once installed the bike cries out for a full fairing to cover the empty area under the engine. I contacted Erik Buell Racing and they said it will work; that along with a new ECM (for non-cat OEM exhaust and K&N) will tie it all together.
