Stop during the course of my normal Sunday hack and noticed a few spots of oil dripping off the front of the bike.

Gave it a quick wipe up and headed home.

Gave it a better clean up and this is where it's coming from

Was running down the radiator bracket, and dripping off the bottom corner on the left pod.

Going to pull the airbox in a bit, just looking fir a heads up if anyone has had this before ?

Was quite a hard morning, lots of high revs and a fair few revlimiter moments : (

Well just pulled the throttle bodies off, bit of seepage everywhere but nothing obvious, I'm thinking front rocker cover : ( I haven't got time to pull the engine as I'm away with work for the next 2 weeks. Then I'm supposed to be going to Europe on a bike trip ? Reckon it will be ok for another 2k ?

Albert, yours looks alot worse than mine ?

Alberts scares me since it looks like the oil is coming from the base of the cylinder. Avalaugh if I were you I would try and snug up your vavle cover bolts a little more if you can get a small wrench in there. Then go on your trip and watch the oil carefully. But that's just me I would be nervous to K.O the motor for low oil, but it looks small enough that I personally would ride on it.

Yeah that was my plan too, I'm pretty on the ball regarding my bike, always checking everything.

Good luck to both of you. Al I hope it is something simple and the oil just made its way to that area.

What about the oil up top of the screw. Is the oil spraying out when under pressure? I understand the oil leaking down but it looks like it is going up also.

Albert - that looks like an oil nozzle plug, if youare going to do it up it needs some loctite blue on it too..

I think it's identified in Section 3-86 of the manual...

There will be a bit of pressure behind it with the engine running so it might "mist" up a bit.

It only does up to 15.5 ft-lbs so the loctite is quite important..

Check the manual though just in case I'm looking at the picture wrong.

cheers jules. i'll have a look in the manual, at least its looking like something reasonably simple and not my engine about to grenade itself

I don't know, it looks like the oil headed upwards is just seepage. Put warm or hot oil on something that is porous and its going to spread in any direction up to a certain point. At least, that is how it appears to me given what I can ascertain from the pictures anyway.

Take off the stator cover. Pretty easy, but putting back is a bit more difficult due to the magnetic pull. You will need to make guides from bolts. Just cut the heads off and screw them at different positions so can guide the cover back without pinching or damaging the gasket.

Once the stator cover is off, check the gasket for signs of damage. If it is damaged, the damaged area will be soaked wet with motor oil.

Lookup my post on this topic.

Albert,
About an inch North East of that plug looks to be the crank case vent tube. Looks like yours still has the zip tie holding it to the hose barb/nipple but might be worthwhile to have a once over of that as well.

My 1125R had its valve cover (I'm thinking that's the same as "rocker cover") gaskets replaced under warranty back in '09 because it had a weep. I'm assuming that issue is not limited to just mine.
