Stator #4 just ruined my weekend again. That is all, just needed to say it.

Labor is a BIG variable in a proper installation, try another dealer.

Sorry 'bout that Bart. Glad you could nurse it back to your house. Do the cops hassle riders for not having their headlamps on during the day? How many miles did you make with the headlamp off? I unplugged mine in Gunnison, but didn't want to chance not making it or getting a ticket. I've got the battery on the tender now.

Jody, did you actually make it home after the stator went out? I kept looking at the battery charge throughout our trip and thankfully it stayed OK. But WHEN will it go out again, as we all know it will.

I made it back to Gunnison where I waited on a friend to pick me and the bike up. Funny, but Gunnison was where it happened the first time!

How many miles did you ride after it failed, Jody?
I made it 20 miles with the headlight off. I don't think NM has a mandated headlight law for bikes.

With the headlight on I made it about 30 miles. I parked it and waited about 45 minutes, disconnected the headlight, and only went another 5 miles because that was where I needed to be to get picked up.

I'm going to find out about Colorado law on headlights.

IIRC the only m/c law in Colo is eye protection, helmets for kids...
Wyoming has a lights-on law, but we don't.

Hey Jody, only one week turnaround getting the stator replaced here in 'querque. CR is back home and charging like new. :-)
While I enjoyed riding the S2 to work and back, I missed the 1125.

Bart, with some of the negative reports on the CustomRewind stators I may have to go back to High Country HDB and have them re-install the known bad type stator under warranty.

Winter will be here fast this year and I would like to get together with some of you New Mexico guys for a ride before I'm snowed in.

Jody, kelly from Phoenix is out here this week to do a track day and enjoy some of our cooler temps.
We rode up to Colorado last weekend for three days of fun riding some of your states wonderful roads.
Yes, you need to bite the bullet and get another questionable stator installed and at least get a few more rides in before the season is gone.

just got my second stator put in and is running better than ever, almost no surging, starts better but i think it will still fail. Sante Fe hd is trying hard to find a fix. What did thunderbird do for a fix?

these stators are also oil cooled. Then my stator went out at 2,200 miles the dealer complained about the oil level being low, 09's are supposed to be 2.7 quarts. I have 12,000 miles now on the warranty stator. Since the new stator 3 quart oil changes until a thread where one fellow has been maintaining several 1125's. He was adding 3.3 liters which is 3.4 quarts. That is the uppermost line on the stick, overfill.
So far absolutely no evidence of entering the throttle bodies.

ThunderTurd replaced both the stator and the VR.
Arrowhead in Phoenix did the same thing when my first stator went out.
