Gang, I just wanted to give a shout out to Geico's Roadside Assistance. My battery had worn down from turning the engine off but leaving the lights on for about 60 seconds while I stopped in a parking lot to make a phone call. Bike wouldn't start up (stator issue thing I suppose, since it's a brand new H-D battery). Ironically, when I called my wife to tell her, she said my brand new Battery Tender was just dropped off via UPS right after I left. After calling GEICO, within 30 minutes, I had a tow truck out, he hooked it up (pic below) and we were on our way. Pleasant GEICO rep who sounded American and was very quick/courteous. The driver had a very nice truck and explained to me how the straps/hooks/etc worked, to make me more comfortable about hoisting it in the air and driving with my 1125CR hanging off the back.  P.S. I put the kickstand back before we got underway.  | ||

Glad to hear you had a POSITIVE experience, I know I've had my share of not so good experiences with towing services. I hope you find out what is wrong with your bike. | ||

Geico rocks. Had them for years. Best customer service, and their roadside service is awesome. +1 for Geico | ||

Geico is such a sleazebag company A mail order company wanted to know if it should keep selling radar detectors. Geico ordered it's employees to all "stuff the ballot box" and vote no, even though they weren't actual customers. Guess Geico wanted to protect it's insurance increases from tickets Geico buys radar and laser guns for police departments. Guess they want to protect their insurance increases from tickets | ||

All for keeping insurance rates down. That's just more money in my pocket to go ride. This would be for all insurance company's not just Geico. It would be like paying private detectives to watch suspected people doing insurance fraud. | ||

I have to say that if that truck showed up to take me home I'd send them away and ask for a "proper" motorcycle recovery service. My recovery guy has a custom built truck (actually made in the USA and imported to the UK) which has hydraulic ramps with bump-stop clamps, lots of tie-down points and then slides back into a fully enclosed area. I'm sure that Geico system is secure enough - but I wouldn't be at all happy to see it arrive to recover me...but that's just me I guess... I'm not even keen on the use of straps to hoist the bike up by the subframe for tire changes - I prefer to use something designed for the job. | ||

The tow has NOTHING to do with Geico except the contract they have written. It can be a stakebed and engine hoist, a cargo van, a tow truck with the bike hung from the sling and tied foward to the hitch (seen ALL in action) Geico is a decent company for insurance but they don't own a single tow truck, they just pay them for the service. | ||
