I dropped the R and damaged the clutch puck. I noticed a puddle under my bike and saw the fluid leaking out of the cracked puck and now I need to replace it. I have the rev A and I need to know what is involved in doing the replacement. Fluid placement and all that. I am a mechanical rookie so, any help is appreciated. Thanks, Paul. | ||

Good job Paul. But f it's just the puck than it's just a remove and install the new one. But if you cracked the case than that too is a remove and replace. Or it could be the the piston became dislodged and needs to be reseated. | ||

Did something similar - low sided on the right and tore up the plastic plug and a little bit of the clutch cover. I picked up the plug remnants and it was obvious that I had the start of the dreaded "weep" even before the low side. So I temporarily plugged with a diy rubber disk, until the weep became a full blown leak many months later. At that point the dealer replaced slave cylinder and clutch cover under warranty since the low side wasn't the proximate cause of the leak. YMMV | ||

If it's under warranty - get the leak fixed w/ the new RevB cover and seals. If the case is OK, and you aren't under warranty - try a GSD (grandstand designs) clutch and stator set for RevA. But that won't fix your weep. How bad is it? Pics always help, but if it's a super slow leak i might just top off occasionally and call it good. I did this on my RevB for a few months before taking it in for service and to fix the weep. 1.5k mi or so now on the new seal kit they use w/ RevB and all good so far! GL! | ||

this can be confusing to a rookie... a) there is a Rev "B" Clutch Slave cylinder kit...designed to help stop the weep problem b) there is a Rev "B" Clutch Cover (Big puck) you may need both.... bring $$s if you're warranty is up maybe one of the parts guys surfing the forum could post the P/Ns??? | ||

Forget about Rev "B". Mine is in the shop now getting the Rev "C" clutch update to try and stop the weep. | ||

to clarify, RevC is simply the RevB Cover (big puck), with the new internal seal kit (piston and seals). So my RevB is now a RevC since they did the seals/kit. Same cover, same (mostly) puck (i upgraded to the new GSD puck). That's how i understand it - someone can clarify in more detail i'm sure. | ||

Doesn't matter which clutch cover you use, the "repair" kit fits with either - part no: X2086.1AM | ||

Puck is not a part of the fix to the weeping clutch slave cylinder. | ||

Yep JC, I got bit by the stupid bug and dropped my baby. I have the rev A cover on my 08R so, I will be looking into getting a replacement puck from GSD. Thanks for all of the input guys, it's really appreciated. | ||

I seems worse than it really is the only hard part really is the wires. And there just seems to be more than there should be parts to take off to get the frame off. But not to bad really. but at least now my valves should be good for awhile, just have to do the plugs which can be done without rotating the engine. we need to hook up again soon go for a ride.  |
