Hi,

I had an error code on my 08 1125r a while back (can't remember what it was but after looking into it it was to do with the IAT sensor in the intake tract). Anyway, I rubed it clean and made sure the wires were secure, error message went away. Ever since bikes temp gauge reads a lot lower than before. The "COLD" flashes for a lot longer and the fan does not come on when I turn off the ignition (used to come on a fair bit). Could this be a result of a dirty IAT and now the bike is running at the correct temp, or could there be a problem that needs looking into. The service now is showing on start up, and the bike was service (10,000km) about 1000kms ago? Any advise would be welcome. Cheers from Aus

As far as the "service now" showing up... There is a count down odometer on these specifically to keep track of the miles since last service. Sounds like that was not reset at your last service. Can't speak to your other observations though.

It's possible that you damaged the sensor. When riding at speed my intake temp reads a few degrees above ambient. Does yours?

You can try some Sensor Kleen and see if it's just still dirty. Rubbing alcohol works in a pinch to though.

The "COLD" flashes because of the coolant sensor, not related to the IAT sensor.

How long does the "cold" flash for?

My ambient is always way out, for instance it was around 16C here yesterday, and ambient was reading around 27c, up to 37 when stoped. Cold flashes for around 5-8 mins. it use to stop after i'd geared up, ideling in the drive (2 mins). Thanks in advance

Mine use to read higher temps. I gave it a twist so the sensor was facing into the wind and sprayed with Sensor Kleen. Usually reads a few deg higher than ambiant at speed now. Stop and go it gets quite high. Prob from the rad fans. But I have a plan for that! Mwhahahaha!!!!
