Well my 1125 is in for a stator replacement. I have an 03 Fatboy sitting in my garage never ridden since I bought my 1125r. So decided to trade the Fatty for a 2011 Ducati 848 evo dark. Pick it up tomorrow. Cant wait to have the 1125 and the Duc to ride. Will post pics soon. | ||

The last Harley I had was in '92, a FLH bagger. Bought it to try to stay a little mellower on the street. Was riding on a great curvy road, enjoying the ride, running about 75-80 with a right hand curve coming up. No problem, just grabbing the clutch and brake, moving the various controls through their big range of motions, keeping the wriggling under control and hauling 'er down to corner speed. At the apex about five sport bikes came flying through in the opposite direction, just all cranked over and hauling butt and wailing exhaust sounds. In that split-second instant I blurted out "F*** this pig!" and the next day put the HD up for sale and bought a new 900SS Ducati. Enjoy your new Duc!! | ||

03 - curious to see how you think the two bikes compare once you have them both I know one of the mags did a comparo a few years back between the 848 and 1125R, i THINK they picked the Duc as the winner. Dont remember the article much. But would be interesting to get the opinion of someone that owns both and puts plenty of time in the saddle etc | ||

Thanks Duphuckincati! I am really excited to go pick it up tomorrow. I rode the Harley yesterday for about 20 mins just to be sure that is what I wanted. I can firmly say the cruiser thing does nothing for me. I miss my 1125 already I am sure that is 2-3 weeks out so what a perfect addition I figured, about the same HP and torque numbers (Buell marginally stronger) dead sexy styling and different just like the Buell. I looked at the Jap 4s and just couldn't do it. The twins just have so much character. Hybrid as I get some miles in the seat I will keep ya posted. The seating position is a little more aggressive but nothing too radical. The styling well I have to admit the Duc wins there but I love oddball sport bikes and the Buell fits that. I can't wait to flog the Italian supermodel  | ||

I sat on a friends 1098 about two years ago, the seating position was much much more extreme VS our 1125s, or so I thought. I hear they are extremely fun, but not as good for 'daily' use And yes, they are some of the best looking bikes to come out in the last couple of years for sure | ||

I sat on 1198 yesterday too and it was a little more harsh than the 848, which is more harsh than the 1125. I have never ridden the 1198 or 1098 and no time on the 848 yet so I can't say how friendly a daily driver they are. I live 30 miles from work so I get a decent ride everyday I ride. The slow stuff around town I can say the 1125 is not a peach and I am sure the 848 will be no better. But get it on the open road the 1125 is awesome sure the Duc will be too. | ||

And the added bonus neither bike is the fastest out there, but how people react to my bike and not others is what I enjoy the most. The comments and conversation about my weird bikes when pulled in for food or gas is what I enjoy. | ||

I have never ridden a comfortable Ducati! LOL! I rode the 998 and the 1098. OMG! 20 minutes and my neck was screaming and so did my shoulders. That's not counting the massive heat coming from the underseat exhaust. On the highway they are tolerable thanks to the windblast. In the twisties, they are okay because you are always moving around. In the city, forget it! Heavy clutch pull, most of your weight on your wrists and arms, heat from the engine and underseat exhaust....it makes the XB12R feel like a couch in comparison. Having said that, I wouldn't mind having an 848 in white/red. Beautiful bike! Probably would hate it in any kind of suburban riding/commuting though. | ||

I've got a '08 1125 and a '11 1198 Duc. I'm working from memory on the 1125 because it's been off the road waiting for parts for the last few months, but it's much easier to ride fast and is a more relaxing ride than my Duc. The handling in the twisties is as good, but very different. If you're going for a triple figure hooligan ride, the 1198 has way more grunt to play with but the bike doesn't really make sense below 90mph. Can't fault it though, the traction control means you can get a bit lairy in the wet too. The 1125 is going to become my track bike when sorted  | ||

It's ok) Anyway one of the lines is "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now". That's how I feel about having ridden the HD bagger 20 yrs ago and a Buell now. Just sayin... | ||

Welcome to the Ducati club I bought a mint 2000 748 with 2k miles and absolutely love it. I don't think it handles as well as the 1125r but were talking over 8 years apart in terms of technology. I have always wanted one of these bikes since seeing Fled so decided to sell the 1125r and try something else. | ||

I should be picking it up tomorrow. The dealer is 100 miles away. So that means a good report on a distance ride. Most of it is interstate part back roads so should be a good judge of how the bike feels. I am looking forward to having the Buell back in the garage so I can pick the beauty or the beast for my riding LOL | ||

Well picked up the 848 today, and put 200 miles on it. I can say that is an amazing bike. Not as powerful down low as the 1125 but once you get it around 6500 and higher it will keep up with the Buell. It is not as hot either, rode in traffic a bit and it is just as good or bad how ever you see it as far as stop and go traffic and how it manages riding slow, but much less heat coming off the engine. And the engine is really smooth down low. It does corner different not sure if I can quantify it really as better or worse just different. Brakes hands down the 848 wins that battle, that damn thing will stop on a dime and trail brake like no other. Brembo monos and radial master is amazing. The sound with just a stock exhaust is pure sex. It sounds amazing as is I would love to hear it with some Termi pipes. Seating position is definitely more aggressive and not quite as comfy as the 1125 but it isn't numbing either. I did 200 miles and could have gone further just like on the 1125. I am definitely not disappointed at all by the Duc it is an amazing machine and while the Buell is in for stator work will make the perfect fill in. I can't wait to have the 1125 back so my most difficult choice of the day will be which one I ride  | ||

Not too sure as it had only about a 1/4 tank damn dealer. So I had to put gas in it at around 70 miles. I will ride it and let ya know. Definitely need a name change here, but it would be hard to top your's Duphuckincati LOL | ||

LOL I like it! No worries about the sissy Duc rider. I rode it like I stole it from the dealer today and plan on doing that pretty much always. Did the same thing with the 1125 rode it like I stole it from minute one. | ||

I have always like the flat black, no bling no frills. The pics don't do it justice either. But the other colors are beautiful too, and you pay an extra $1000 for it.  | ||

No they charge a $1000 for the colors, it comes either red on red frame with red wheels or white on red frame and wheels. The stealth is cheaper. And I have always liked the flat black on cars and bikes. | ||

Keep it extra in mind that as bad-ass as the flat black looks, coming down the road it's hard to see for the multitudes of dumb-ass drivers out there. And the relatively small lights won't help much. And you'll be traveling down the road a lot faster than they'll be used to. I look like a total dick these days since I painted my helmet in two-tone day-glo orange and fluorescent green (and painted a naked V-Strom to match. Wanna talk about ugly.) But I can definitely tell a difference from my gray/black days. Moto-Guzzi had a day-glo orange stripe down the middle of the fairing on the first LeMans and it looked pretty cool. Not that I'm suggesting... Just watch those cars amigo. They ain't watching you. They don't even know you're there. | ||

I agree and were I live you could be covered in neon with a siren and they would still pull in front of you. People vary rarely look for bikes no matter how bright. My 1125 is red no different. Crowley nice rides! |
