Just ruminating. Not that I am taking a Sawzall to the 1125r...but if you want to bob the tailpiece, really shorten it, where else can the battery go? Sometimes I get these strange ideas...like removing the front fairing and making something a lot narrower with stacked projector beams, or altering the tailpiece radically...just errant, deviant thoughts.

Any ideas?

Yeah I'm thinking along the same lines, going to fit a short rear from another bike, but the battery is quite a lump.

get a tiny one, and/or put it in the airbox

or mount it up under the swingarm, where the stock muffler was.

Build a Li-ion one. Then with some wiring you can shape it to what ever you need.

Lithium battery, not much bigger than a pack of cigarettes, you could put it anywhere.

I'd recommend a 6 cell if you go the lithium route - especially if you want to be able to start it in cold weather. About half to 2/3 the size of the stock battery (and about 10 lb lighter) Remember your solenoid lead is substantial, so if you mount forward, you will need to make room for that. Keep in mind fuse box and main power lead are located to the "rear" of the harness. You'll also need to fab some kind of battery box or tray. The lithiums do not have very substantial outer casings (mine is a heavy shrink-wrap material), so you don't want to to rub through and short out. Post photos if you decide to do this...

Lithium...helps keep me and my bike balanced : p

Just kidding.

I'd almost like a wrecked 1125r to experiment on...I would prefer to keep my baby pretty close to stock...but I'd like a Franken R to torture and molest on a whim.
