While we're on the subject of h-d dealerships "good or bad" I have a question that some of you might be able to answer.

Are the h-d dealerships that have sold or is selling some of these bikes (1190RS) going to be servicing them as well?

Do any of these mechanics receive training from Erik Buell Racing to work on the bikes that they sale?

Anyone else in the "dealer network" other than h-d?

the dealer network is still being defined.

i would presume that erik would only have qualified dealerships (and personnel) selling and servicing his motorcycles.

and, while i'm not sure if it will work out in the end, i'm sure there are non-HD dealers who are interested in becoming ebr dealers.

patience, grasshopper...

Yeah....patience.

Curiosity is killing the cat here.

"i'm sure there are non-HD dealers who are interested in becoming ebr dealers."

Who would guys like to see selling these bikes?

Who else uses Rotax motors? A big Rotax users interest would be greater than anyones. Bombardier Recreational Products owns Rotax and has the Can-Am lines snow machines, a trike, utility vehicles, quads, marine vehicles and motors. They need a motorcycle.

Polaris needs a bike besides their Victory cruisers.

I would think that dealers who carry Aprilia would be interested in carrying the line once they offer more than a $40k bike.

Although some of us have issues w/ h-d I do think that there are some that are great out there and would do good with these bikes, wouldn't it be nice to walk into an "all-American" dealership.

I would like to see these sold in some Can-Am dealerships myself, as Erik said "they're very innovative".

Good feed back guys!

Finedaddy1:
Agreed, while many have had issues with HD dealerships, I would say the larger problem at hand is with HD corporate. That is where customer service fails in complete epic fashion. The few dealerships out there that truly suck at life are simply participating and perpetuating in the larger culture problem within HD.
HD dumped the 11's at the end and while they said they would support them for 10 years... Um well here we are 2 years later getting the shaft. For everyone having issues with there 11's I'm starting to feel the only way to have these obvious design (or construction) flaws properly addressed is via class action law suit. Anything short of that and I think they will be laughing all the way to the bank.
I for one will NEVER, and I mean NEVER buy a single item from HD ever again. Not even the small stuff, like Oil, Filters, brake pads etc. I refuse to divert one thin dime towards such a POS company. Especially when there are so many wonderful smaller shops that can meet all my needs and, gasp, actually appreciate my business and treat me like a human being.

--Rant complete fire suit donned.

There is about the same amount of shafting today as there was 3 years ago before the closing.

That's a whole lot of shafting. Do they treat the 900lb chrome warriors the same way?? If so how on gods green earth are they still around. Coolness factor usually only goes as far as the first double penetration.

Can-Am Spyders do and they have two sizes of alternators (magnetos in Spyder speak), 400 and 500 watts. The 400 watt stator, 18 pole 3 phase, looks remarkably like a 2008 1125R unit although the wiring and connectors look different.

I haven't priced one or seen one in person but according to their service manual, the hole patterns and overall appearance makes it looks promising as a possible donor part.

As far as HD servicing.....

If they do work like my local one does I won't be there.

here's what I found as I pulled my stator last night. That residual melted wiring shielding/insulation is not from the stator I pulled as per following pic.

They also are offering no help even though the stator they put in lasted less that 2000kms because my warranty expired in May. The parts guy even suggested I look into another ride as stators are $900+ not installed.

So what is the 1190RS using as a stator?
Can these be fitted to a 1125?

Bart, I haven't found it yet, but in a few other threads it was mentioned. Seems like... there was talk of an improved oil jet system being used on the 1190RS engine. I'm not sure if the stator itself is different.

I took it up to High Country last Friday and they should have it finished by tomorrow. The found bad bearings on the rear axle... said it was whoever changed the tire last time. Doh! I don't know what I did wrong putting it on, but it cost me.

thats about six months of payments for me. no warranty left. If the stator goes again i can't afford to fix it. I guess i'll just make payments and look at it. Whaaa. or i can try and work with what i have on a limited budget and try to copy new parts.
