Which part # is the compufire for our application? Because I emailed them and they said they don't have anything that would work with the 1125.

Www.roadcycle.com now offers a USA built series regulator for about 150. Knoxxville hd has found a Stator and I should have my bike back tomorrow afternoon.

Starting to wonder if boring holes in the stator Reducing the mag strength and adding oil but then theres a balance issue.

No idea how easy it would be to machine those magnets in-situ. Chuck it on a lathe, and take off .X mm. That would give you more room and less field.

I suppose symmetrical drilling would be a possibility also. Not sure what that would do for oil flow. Maybe put little "scoops" on the holes to try and pump in oil, but you would be going against a substantial centrifugal force.

Where are our ME's when we need 'em!

Magnets can be machined. However, hard magnet materials - as opposed to the flexible or rubber type magnet materials - are extremely difficult to machine.

Physics was a long time ago, but I seem to remember gravity as an inverse square to distance and magnetism as the inverse CUBE of distance.

A minimally larger gap between stator and rotor will drop the field seen by the stator faster than weaker magnets.

That's funny brumbear I sent them a email yesterday.
Closed for a week.
The other thing to look at is ricks cycle there building stators for the rotax powered aprillia wich is having the same issue.
I am so pissed I am looking at replacement bikes.

this provides an good laymans explaination of the limiting factor (flux saturation)in the generator output.
IIRC the saturation actually occurs in the iorn core. I'm not going to comment on what the factors are that would reduce the magnetic flux in the generator. I took one DC/AC machines course over 30 years ago and did not retain that much.

However, I'll throw this out there; it might be possible to rewind the 09 stators with a smaller stack of laminations and get the desired effect(reduction in magnetic flux). There are a couple of motor guys at work that might know the answer. I'll check next week.

Ricks Cycle is aware of the Buell Rotax issue as we talked about it at length at one of the dealer shows. I did not follow up with them to see where they were at with it.

Well I got my bike back from Knoxville hd yesterday.
Road about 200 miles making sure all is good before the 700+ mile ride home.
Pulling off the nc welcome center on I 40 I throttle up grab second and It revs to the moon.
Dam Belt broke long story short grharley found one at smokey mountain hd they trashed my ebr decals using a Xb bike stand.
But it's back togther

I have a "version 2 custom rewind stator" I have 700+ miles on it and so far I am pleased! my first stator with higher gauge wire burned up at 732 miles and was redone under warranty by custom rewind with a lower gauge thicker wire which should of lowered resistance thus less heat. I am putting on the miles as fast as I can. I will keep you all posted on my results

Let us know George. Lower gauge (thicker) wire should also have a few less turns, therefore make a little less power, and likewise a little less heat, which I think is heading the right direction.

But limited tools and time.
Hopefully this thing will make it home i am about to look at replacing it this is so frustrating i love this bike and it's the only new vehicle i ever bought..
