Due to a suggestion from Froggy, here is a thread asking the differences between the 1125 and 1190 cases.
In another thread here in the 1125R section Blake made the comment that the two were not the same, I know several of us are curious of the differences, hopefully this will answer those questions.

I think they are the same and the only real difference is the bore size and the better quality parts like rods, pistons and valves! I sure would like to know to possibly upgrade to the 1190cc motor.

Well as discussed in other threads, many of us were under the impression that ExBxR took a 1125 Helicon and bored the cylinders, different pistons, and valves etc etc, all top end stuff really.
But as stated, Blake was very blunt in his reply that the cases were not the same

I really don't get to read so much information on multiple page threads. I just try to read things that interest me more than anything else. I get information over load! LOL

The cases have nothing to do with the bores, that would be the cylinder heads

Didn't the case get a oil level sight window?

I wonder if the cases had to be bored to accept a the 3mm bigger pistons.

Are the "new" 1190's the same as the "old" 1190's? 'Old' being the bored out 1125's offered by Erik Buell Racing and raced up until this year. 'New' being the current 1190RS. I was under the impression that the "old" 1190 engine was a bored out (more or less) stock 1125 with new pistons, rods and maybe crank, but with essentially the original 1125 case castings. I would have to go back to the earlier Erik Buell Racing website, but I seem to remember that the 'old' 1190 was not a completely new platform, i.e.; parts were largely interchangeable with 1125. But waddaeyeno?

The proper oiling of an 1125/1190 may require case modifications.

I just priced the S&S 100" Sporty engine, over $9,000. I wonder what the 1190 engine sells for?

I think they did in 2010

NO.

The case doesn't house the pistons

The 1190RS uses a dipstick just like the 08-09 1125 motors.

This is strait from the Cycleworld "First Look" of the 1190RS article online by Steve Anderson.

"The engine carried by that frame is essentially a bored-out version of the 1125R powerplant, now displacing 1190cc. Perhaps more importantly, every one of its reciprocating components has either been replaced with a part from the Buell Superbike program, or a part closely related to such a part."

Sounds like the same cases to me. Same cylinders, just bored out. Same heads, just with new valves and cams. Like a hotrodded 1125.

Somewhere I read or was told that there was some changes made to the oiling system to help the stator problem. I believe the cases are the same but with additional machine work and either added or larger passages to that area.

I'm pretty suspicious of the cases being any different.

I know for a fact a lot of the clutch-side is the same, because the 1190 comes with the same Suter racing clutch I use in my 1125r race bike.

Blake doesn't own either an 1125r or 1190, so I'm not sure I'd consider him much of an expert on either.

I don't think he will. Look at this I found on another thread posted by Blake. Note "new engine parts".

"a new frame, a new swingarm, new engine parts"

Aware, but he sure does like to quickly point out when people are wrong or announce facts on them.
Still waiting to hear about the differences......

For $10,000 e.b.r. can transform your 1125 to a 1190

you don't need to bore to 1190 to make the power (-:

nothing wrong with dreaming, great things came to life when people start dreaming.

I talk about the current 1190 RS crank Specs.

Peak Torque
97 ft-lbs @ 9400 rpm

Peak Horsepower
175 hp @ 9750 rpm

Look here complete stock bike

We now have the pistons, rods, valves, crank ready: http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=YXHFSC&aid=3064&cid=9683&s=&a=&aname=Buell_11 25_stage_2_kit_180_HP_and_125_NM_of_Torque

Soon we build that engine that is in a crate now in our shop. We see what it brings..

We build the parts in a stock bore engine with stock heads Not ported or flowed.

>>> Same cylinders, just bored out.

So then if we are trying to be honest, they are not the same cylinders. :/

>>> Same heads, just with new valves and cams.

Inaccurate. Refer to Steve Anderson's article.

>>> Like a hotrodded 1125.

No. Like an 1190RS engine complete with it's own entirely new intake, fueling system, exhaust, cooling system, and ECM.
