I was riding on the freeway and my 1125 started sounding deeper and louder like a harley. It got really loud so I pulled over and found a hole in the front of the exhaust. It was really fun to split lanes, people parted like the red sea. I did notice a loss of top end power.
I just ordered an FMF APEX and I am sending my ECM to Erik Buell Racing for a recalibration.
Should I get a K & N air filer or is stock air filter good for an FMF APEX.

I have that set-up on my 09CR, unbelievable difference. Makes the bike better in every way. I did't get the K&N yet because Erik Buell Racing told me it made very little difference, i'm sure i'll get it when my stock one is due for replacement.

Whatever filter you go with, get the ECM programmed for it and STICK WITH IT.

I put a K&N on my bikes just because they're reusable. Bag the "performance" claims, I hate throwing stuff away when I can get a reusable one. Like my coffee maker filter. Why toss paper every day when I can re-use a metal screen for years?

Well, under Federal Emissions laws, you may be eligible for a new, free exhaust

I know on a car you would be

I don't think so Sprint, but I hope you are wrong. I was just told by my dealer and by harley customer service that they don't even cover corrosion on the exhaust and won't replace it. So I sanded and painted it myself.

Generally a hole is more from hitting something. Once again I hope I'm wrong.

The bike would not meet the EPA test with a hole in the muffler
