Something I've always wondered about on the 1125 series. Why is it that when the fans come on, they never turn off. I know that the turn off temp is 150F which seems crazy to me. We know the engine while running will never reach that. It would seem to me that an off temp of 175F would make since being that you would be moving when it gets to there. Why do they need to stay running while your moving?

Why ask why?

When the 1125R first came out, there were numerous complaints about the bike overheating, and putting too much heat on the riders legs

I'm sure the fan programming is to address both issues

On mine, 1st fan kicks on around 180 second around 200.

What flash do you have?

Stock ON:
L fan: 77C / 171F
R fan: 90C / 194F

Stock OFF:
L fan: 71C / 160F
R fan: 75C / 167F

I agree that the off settings are a bit low.
These settings work well, the fan(s) will actually cycle on and off (Not excessively) when the ambient temps are < 80F

Fan Key-On On Temperature
L fan 82C / 180F
R fan no change

Fan Key-On Off Temperature
L fan 77C / 171F
R fan 81C / 178F

Also you can set the "Fan Key-Off Maximum Duration" from 1 to 0 to eliminate the fans from running after key-off.

I have one of the earlier Erik Buell Racing Race ECMs. Both that and my stock ECM have the old fan settings. Sigh. There must be a way for me to adjust that a bit.

Lampo, what do you need to set the fan run after key off to off? One of those ECM Spy or something similar?
