My bike is at East Coast Harley right now.
4200 miles, overcharging (VR bad) and some other weirdness. Techs say it's baffling them.
When they called Harley for advice, Harley dispatched a few people who, according to the guy I talked to, are in charge of investigating the charging issues with our bikes.
Said that they'd be keeping it for a while to get the techs from HD to give it a once over. It's still under warranty, and while I'm bummed to be without the bike for a bit, it's encouraging to see that someone at HD is taking it seriously.
I will update this thread as more info comes in.
One problem they mentioned is that the bike had two "bulletins" applied one on top of the other. something involving an extra resistor. Not sure what effect that would have on things, but they are clearly exercising due diligence.
I get a good warm and fuzzy about East Coast HD. The techs I spoke to are enthusiastic about Buells, and like to work on them.
One option we discussed was "downgrading" to an 08 charging system. Again, I will let you know what the final outcome is.

The harness upgrade is the bulletin i believe they are talking about. Anyone know what effect applying two of these in parallel would do?

If the dealer is willing to install the 08 stator/rotor under warranty, I would do that in a second.
I am not aware of anything that has been recommended by HD other than the harness upgrade.
