Alright gents...in an effort to remove my gas cap the last bolt stripped out completely. As soon as the torx bit stripped I started burnishing to get an extractor to bite. As you can see by the attached photo the head is totally wasted. Now I have been trying to drill it out to get an extractor to bite again but to no avail.

What's my next option?

And yes I am pissed that I nicked the rim with the drill!!!

try using a torx that is just a bit oversized and hammering it in. don't know how well it will work after you've been using an extractor on it.

your only option may be drilling the head off, pulling the cap out and turning whats left with channel locks or other tool

Tried that before I got the extractor. It is now a nice shiny bowl that is impenetrable by drill bit.

ARGHH!!!

Are you using a reverse drill bit to drill it out?

Jdugger: Standard drill bit to get a whole started, then the reverse bit in the extractor kit None of which is making a dent.

I'm heading towards drilling the head off and trying to grip the stud.

Always drill a stuck screw with a reverse bit.

Hammer (small one) and a sharp chisel. First hit, make a cut, after that just tap it around to get it out.

if you drill it put something behind it, it goes into the gas tank, if you don't you will get shavings in the gas tank and they will plug up the fuel pump.
