Well, 4th time is a charm!

I've had the High bar, and factory clubmans.

I tried omars adjustable clubmans, but couldnt get comfortable without the ability to adjust down angle and pullback at the same time.

Then I tried flipping over (and left to right) with the factory clubmans and actually enjoyed the ride for a few weeks. But even then I just couldnt get near as comfortable on the CR as I am on the XB with Heli bars. So I decided to take a chance on the convertibars universal 54mm kit and finally, dead on XB Heli clamp comfort!!

I had to trim a little bit up front on the plastic because I wanted to push the clamps further forward so I could bring the controls in narrow. Other than that, no mods at all. High bar cables are a must.

The adjustability is almost endless. Simple to adjust too. Worth the $300? Yep!

Now we get to see if the damn stator will last 5K miles as I head to Texas and back...

What's the story with those grips?

Your fork tube height appears very different and your mirrors too. Please tell us more about your set-up as a dramatic change in fork tube height can really change the handling characteristics. I know so 'cause I already played around with it some. -Tutt

After looking at the pics again (the last one in particular) it looks like you have completely by-passed the stock upper bar mount just north of the gas cap. It looks sort of funny to me that way. I would appreciate more detail if you have the time. Thanks. -Tutt

Fork tubes haven't been touched since I bought the bike 2 years ago. I think what you see is the convertibar clamp without the CR top clamp. I took the pic before I re-installed it.

The grips are driven D3 from motorcycle supertstore, Al carries them too. Verdict is still out on them, feel great while stationary but I dont know if I will like them when on the highway.

If you have the ability, please take and post a pic of the final product of your set-up. The lack of a bar in the mounting point of the stock upper clamps looks really unfinished to me. I wouldn't want that sort of set-up myself but others might.

Thanks for responding.

Tutt,
That's been my opinion on any solution for the R's that leave the ears attached.
But on the CR's, if you do this, you could figure out a stub bar to put back in the stock mounting points and use it as a base for radar detector, GPS, Ipod etc. I think?

The final pic shows the top clamp re-installed.

It sits without the factory bars for now, only because the clamp doubles as the instrument cluster mount. If I can figure a way to mount the cluster otherwise, I will get the ebr billet piece and powder coat it.

The mirrors are rizoma knock offs from eBay. Very nice considering they are probably from China.

That's what I thought. I find the stock clubman's to be very comfortable and the only weakness the thin seat and peg height. I'm loath to put cheap knock-offs on an otherwise American designed and assembled bike although I'm sure some of the stock parts on the stock bike came from overseas. Your mileage may vary.

Thank you all for answering.
