Just my work, because I've had my bikes hit before, and rather not have to replace carbon bodywork. I would ride it elsewhere year round, even in the snow, no point in having a motorcycle if you aren't going to use it.

East St. Louis. No way in HELL I'd take it through there.

Saw a bunch of "gangstaz" out for a ride (cute little vests and all) and today was the first time I was ashamed of another biker. I've been around bikers most of my life, including some seriously hardcore guys, but these fools were unbelieveable today. I now know where the bad biker rap comes from now. Hogging the fast lane at 50 mph, intentionally cutting people off, threatening elderly handicapped drivers (asshats almost caused a wreck that time) and I am fairly certain one of them pulled out a gun at speed on the highway and pointed it at that same older gentleman. If I had been closer and alone (wife and kids with me), I think today would have been the first time I would have TRIED to run that moron over in my 4x4 truck. I saw the video posted a while back on the quick board and I can kinda understand the redneck's view of bikers now. There's a respect of other drivers when you're out there on the road, these guys out there today simply didn't have it.

Damn, that made me mad today.

I can kinda understand the redneck's view of bikers now.

The incident that outraged the redneck is in a completely different universe than what you just described. That being said, I see bikers out there and think the same thing: "How F'ing embarassing" then it turns to disgust then sometimes to anger.

Some people on bikes are pretty bold. It takes one pissed off driver to end it all tho. Happened to an off-duty cop here last year. He was on a KLR 650, had an exchange with a truck and the truck proceeded to pinch him off until the bike hit the curb. Biker lost part of one leg from the knee down. Never did catch the truck.

Whos face are you rubbing it in though? The employees at a dealership? The owners of the dealership? YOu mean the people who had no say in shutting down the company?

And to the original post - I find it funny that you'd never take your 1190 to a HD dealer....when there will be some HD dealers that sell Erik Buell Racing stuff.

If I were able to afford a 1190, three places I wouldnt take it?
Im really not sure, I guess just any place I wouldnt feel comfortable taking any bike, like parking it in a rougher area of town where I wouldnt be able to keep an eye on it

Says you. If they had actually tried to sell these machines and actually service them the way they do the chrome recliners things would have been different, so yes they had a hand in it, all of them.

The scrap yard is the only place I can think of that I would never want to take mine. Other than that I would want everyone to see me on my 1190.

1- out to run errands, hard to carry anything on a minimalist bike
2- the grocery store, again no way to carry anything. With such a small tail you would find it hard to fit a tailbag or soft bags on it
3- I wouldn't take it out for an afternoon ride with my woman. I Love her and wouldn't want her to hate me for sitting on that tiny back seat for xxx miles.

The 1190 is a beautiful machine built for one person and one purpose. I prefer a more useful bike beneath me.
I still would not turn one away if it was free though. :-)

Hammer 'Says you. If they had actually tried to sell these machines and actually service them the way they do the chrome recliners things would have been different, so yes they had a hand in it, all of them.'
Really?
So explain places like Tilleys, Ukes, Bruce Rossmeyers, Bumpus etc etc etc, they are the reason HD shut Buell down?
Now I understand the angle youre taking, that if they all wouldve commited to selling the brand then it'd never shut down, but its just how it is, some didnt want to get into the sportbike business. Some did/still do.

I stand by what I said, it is silly to think youre going to rub it in the face of someone to take it to a HD dealer.

I work at an H-D/B dealership.
I ride my 1125R or my XB12X to work everyday.
If I had an 1190RS I would ride it to work and park it on the sidewalk. in front.
not to the grocery store, that's Uly duty.

We can agree to disagree.Silly, says you. I see your angle as well and there are a handful that supported Buell and continue to do so but thats the whole point, it was just a handful. To go to one of the dealers that shunned Buell and say look what you missed out on would bring me satisfaction. That to me is not silly at all. If at all possible I'd also bring it to visit the CEO of HD also, maybe get a picture with him and the bike. Either way I wont have one anytime soon so I'll have to wait.

The CEO of HD doesn't care. He can't understand why anyone would want a bike like the 1190.

10 years from now, HD will be a place you buy leather, t-shirts and lifestyle accessories, but probably not motorcycles..

... oh, wait...

KW doesn't understand Erik's "hobby", or why anyone would want to buy a sportbike.

His appointment as CEO is the equivalent of the president of the San Diego Yacht Club (yacht is pronounced 'throat warbler mangrove' by the way) not knowing how to sail.
