Ok, I don't want to start a turning vs contact patch argument. I am buying a used rear tire to get me by for a bit and I can't find one I like in the 180 so, here is the question. Which is the closest 190 profile to the 180 profile, the 50 or 55 aspect ratio? If it matters I am doing almost 100% commuting now a days and almost 0 leisure riding. Thanks

With going with a wider tire to stay as close to original go with a 50 aspect. The reason is the "55" represents the height is "55%" of the width. So a "55" aspect to a 190 will be a taller tire. So if you go with the 190/50 than it will pretty much be the same height as a 180/55. It'll just be wider ( the 190)

i changed mine to 190/55. its what comes on the dsb 1125r with stock size rim. i like it, it keeps me off the edge of the tire, i wont be able to rub the michelin man off like the 180. and i didn't notice a difference in cornering, still falls in easy and holds the corner.

cool thanks guys, I had an idea what the aspect ratio was, but I didn't know the math behind it. Makes a lot more sense. Thanks

a 200/50 is actually the exact same height as the 180/55 so all of your geometry stays stock. looks a lot more bad ass too having the wider rear tire. feels the same handling wise to me. harder to find than the standard 180/55 though. clears the swingarm and belt with no problems.
