Good day gentlemen and of course Ladies. I was reading this review, and it says Mr Eric is not going to build cheap bikes at lease not 1190's. Maybe I read it wrong? http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/buell/2011- erik-buell-racing-1190rs-preview-90439.html

"Those days are gone"

You're right. I'm stuck in the past, and pulled those numbers out of my butt without putting much thought into it.

>>>It just doesn’t have the top speed necessary to win.

Pretty much a direct quote from Erik Buell and not entirely unrelated to the phenomenal effort put into the 1190 which should assume parity among competitors.

Geoff, and no one is more eager than he, is doing amazing things taking the 1125 beyond it's intended or expected limits. Quoting Geoff from Daytona . . . "heck yeah, I want it today . . I'm a racer and I wanna win".

Pretty well sums it up.

I expect to see Erik Buell Racing bikes accessible to many folks. Erik is a people person and it's not his style to build a boutique elitist product.

Be mindful that to race in the AMA, which is about the best and cheapest advertising he can get, he has to make a legal homologated production bike. In view of the fact that he's up against bikes well into the 6-figure range I'd say Erik Buell Racing has excelled with the 1190RS.

I've owned a lot of Buells since 1987 and intend to own a couple more . . . I'm not a player in the $40,000 range with the possible exception of picking up one of the 1190RS (my wife's idea, not mine) as a "collector bike". I'm generally, even when I had a large collection with XLCR, XR-1000 and many others, not a "collector" type of guy . . even my 1952 Cushman 711 Highlander sitting here next to me runs

I suspect the folks at Erik Buell Racing, rabid enthusiasts all, will be building motorcycles MANY people will own.

I just read everyone' post, and although speculation is fun, it's just that. Speculation. Truth is, Erik is going to build what he has passion for. And that is the reason I think we keep coming back for more from Erik Buell. It's more than just "a motorcycle", it's because we admire him, and his innovative spirit to bringing us "toys" that are different, not for different sake, but because they work better than anything else out there, and they're built by the man who will never give up!....... I just realized this sounds like an advertisement. But I really feel this way.

Did anyone read the article posted by Evc17? In it it says

"Rotax – builder and co-developer of the 1125R motor - bought back the rights to the engine from Harley, and it supplies Erik Buell Racing with a core unit that is then fitted with new cylinders, pistons, crank and cams."

If this is true then Erik Buell Racing can produce a bike with an 1125cc displacement. Since no changes at Erik Buell Racing for that motor = cheaper cost to build and sell. So there is hope for a less expensive 1125 powered Erik Buell Racing motorcycle.

I already have two of those. It's called a Buell 1125R.

Well i wouldnt mind one with much better looking body work better cooling and im sure more HP. Theres always progresion. I don't think thats what the buyer of a new GSXR is thinking. "I already have one of those." Every time Suzuki comes out with a "new" 1000 or 600 its the same displacement but with updated parts to the bodywork or engine.
