Hello fellow buellers, just picked up a 2009 1125r, but have been on the site reading about the 1125r. I'm wondering why there are only 5 complaints on the safercar.gov website? With many owners having stator problems, why have so few reported the problem? Just a thought, wouldn't more complaints push the government to force HD into action.

Generally no. The Federal Government looks at "content" not quantity of reports or vociferousness of the owner.

Several years ago there was an issue and a group got together and all submitted reports. About a year later an inspector came to look at one of the bikes and they dismissed the entire matter.

This has been discussed quite a bit and for the feds to even raise an eyebrow it would have to be established that the stator was a safety issue.

I'm not dismissing the concerns about the stator, simply suggesting that absent a compelling case of the stator being related to safety, they'll likely have little/no interest.

It's s shame that HD, after Buell expended significant time and effort finding a resolution, simply dropped the ball.

By the way . . . there are only two complaints related to the stator. One of the two is duplicated (someone hit enter too many times?) three times.

I also see that the person submitting the report (the first one) spent most their time arriving at conclusion about the cause and possible effects as opposed to providing concise facts.

It's essential when you submit such a report to avoid phrases like "I think this can . . " and "I think this is caused by . ." and report objective observations.

Just an observation from my experience.
