I am having some sort of power cut out issue when the bars are fully locked. I first notice it when I back it out of a parking spot or my garage the IC just shuts off and restarts and sometimes multiple times. If the bike is running it will cause it to shutoff. I've also had it happen pulling away from a gas pump or in a parking lot moving slow when you need to use more steering. My bikes an early 08 but has had 2 new ICs and now have early 09 version.

So looking for some guidance on what to look for, I'm guessing something is loose or shorting. Bike has no other issue when ridding normal just low speed parking lot maneuvers can be sketchy when the bike just cuts out mid turn. I also had it in a state where the lights come on with the key switch but no IC on and starter button doesn't work.

Most likely you have a broken wire on the back/bottom of the keyswitch.
I fixed mine twice last year by re-soldering the wire.
The last time, I also removed some material from the fairing stay.

The switch is mounted with 2 - T40(?) security screws, that's the only real tough hurdle to get over.

I agree with Zac. The exact same thing just happened to me. I fixed the wire in the switch but pulled the igntion wires up so they were'nt so snug going through the hole where the whole bundle of wires comes through!

Thanks Guys, I will have to take a look at it when I get home. Hopefully my bike still wants to start when I leave work today.

I am guessing those security screws are hard to get to, I'll have to check my service manual when I get home.

I have a security torx driver for the ignition if you need to borrow it.

Froggy I might have to take you up on that offer, I have torxs but not any special ones.

Definatly the ignition harness, zac's mod worked for me, you need to mod the fairing bracket or it will happen again.

This is going to be a common problem

Not that I doubted you guys but yep it sure is that wire. I was playing with it when i got home and I made it even worse, doh! I am just going to buy the security socket which according to the book its a Tamper Resistant T45.

Did you guys need to remove the front fairing to fix this wire?

I pulled my fairing, but since I have Firebolt mirrors, that's pretty quick to do.
I'm not sure you could do it with the fairing on tho.

Well there's the issue.
Didn't have to remove the fairing to get it off either. Just soldered it and taped it up and seems to be working just fine. I also freed up a lot more slack to hopefully prevent it from happening again.
