From http://www.EBRacing.com/motorcycles/1125R/

Fuel Capacity: 5.3 US Gal, reduced to 5.0 US Gal with HDPE balls in tank

What is that all about?

>>>Reducing the tank size for rules reasons.

I got a problem with this . . .

I mean when they told me just to "press'em agin the tank" . . . well, I wasn't happy but I did it.

No way I'm puttin' 'em in. . . I don't care who's rules they are.

Is it strictly for volume reduction, or is it to prevent "sloshing" as well?

I've heard of racers using a sponge sort of thing in tanks to help with sloshing, might be this?
I dont know

The sponge is fuel cell foam, and that's exactly what it's for. It's an open cell foam that doesn't take up much space, but keeps the liquids from sloshing around.

I use the stuff in my overflow bottles for both coolant and fuel breather.
