Left Frederick, MD, about 1030 this morning.

Turned around here at 315 this afternoon:

"here" being mile marker 80 on the Blue Ridge Parkway

According to the GPS, I did 728 miles on the CR today. The seat...it's no Uly, but I was very impressed with myself, and with the bike.

Not a single issue, either. I had CT and BATT on the display. Stuck in DC/Charlottesville traffic the CT would climb to 205 or so...but once I got out of traffic in the valley, it dropped to the 180s. Once on the BRP (elevation is NICE for temps!)...it stayed around 174. Voltage never (and I mean NEVER) dropped below 13.6. The bike never missed a beat, never went off-line, and despite a sore butt and wrists (just from not being as used to it as I am to the Ulysses) I had an AWESOME day. Great weather for a ride, and the BRP is ALWAYS a nice journey.

Although, I never did find Char... ; )

Damn 12MP cameras...you gotta shrink the pics so small to get them down to 103kb....

Still a good ride though : )

Sounds great!

I only made it 100 miles today. My '08 1125R was completely dead this morning (cluster drain, I think) so I took my Daytona 675. Its radiator cap is failing (I think) and it started leaking coolant from the reservoir overflow and running really hot, so I turned back early. <sigh> Maybe next weekend..

728 miles? That's barley a tank of gas! Quit your fussing and ride it more. Also, post up a map of your tracks!

And here I was thinking I was something special logging 560 miles on the CR from the wet side (Tacoma) to the far dry side (Grand Coulee Dam) yesterday. . .

Like you mention, not the Uly, but looks like you've got the "comfort seat"... After 500 miles, I know why they made those.

No issues, great ride.

Grand Coulee Dam

Dam!

Rat:
Nice ride. I like that route you took. Used to like in VA Beach.

Pnw:
I've been to that dam at least 5 times in my life. Huge. Water looks like it did last November, running but not raging. Snow went south this season.

Froggy...maybe one tank the way you poke...er, ride...

I'll get some tracks uploaded tonight. Last night all I wanted to do was sit, eat, and sleep.

PNW - yep, got the comfort seat. Bought that the same time as the bike, as well as a complete highbar kit...but just can't bring myself to change the spirit of the bike that much by swapping bars. Yet. Although the way my thumbs are still tingling, I may reconsider... But my 6'4" frame loves the comfort seat combined with the Ulysses pegs. My knees are actually NOT in my chest the whole time!

Now back to Froggy...lemme see...I'm trying to remember how to get my Atari/Quest II to connect to an actual computer...any advice? LOL

I laid down about 300 miles over the weekend most of it on the BRP. It's a tad cooler up there. Wicked hot in SW VA right now.

The most I have done in a day on my CR was about 450 miles and it wasn't bad at all I do have 1" drop pegs and that makes a huge difference for me anyway.

Hey Rat, I'm frequently over in the Frederick / Detour / Damascus area, if you ever want to take another trip through Blue Ridge (I've never ridden there). Hit me up. I have a coworker on an 1125R and he doesn't get an abundant amount of seat time unless a trip is planned (he doesn't commute daily on his like I do on my CR).

Hit me up! PS, was it HOT ENOUGH for ya?! Crickey.

Very nice guy's. Glad to see other's on this board riding some distance, and not worrying about stator issues, etc. My 21 yr old son and I rode our bikes, (his-yam r6, and my-cr) from Dallas Tx to LA California and back. 3,300+ miles, and no problems! My cr ran perfect all the way. I've done many long trips on my bike, but this was our first trip together. We had a blast! He actually stayed in Cali. for 17 more days than I and logged 5,600+ miles by the time he came back home. We made some great memories.

I'm vertically challenged, so can't help but think the CR was built for people in the 5'8" height range. . . Agree on the high bar kit - - interesting, but not committed to changing the style of the bike, numbness be damned... Now that comfort seat or Corbin replacement - - can see that option in the future.

Great report on the ride from Texas to Cali and back.

I agree, I also am 5'9ish, the bike fits like a glove stock! The high bars ruined the bike and I ended up going back to clubmans. I can't see lowering the pegs either, if anything I'm going up!

Well ya see I am horizontally challenged with the oompa loompa arms syndrome so I like the clubmans with the 1 " drop and it also fits like a glove this machine is very forgiving and a hoot to ride no matter what shape and size you seem to be

Adding an inch to the seat, and dropping the pegs another inch...helped IMMENSELY for my 34" (titanium) inseam. My knuckle-dragging arms love the reach to the clubmans, I just need to get some thicker pads either on my glove palms or on the grips.

I did notice, though...just dropping me feet off the pegs to stretch my legs? NOT happenin on the CR like on the Uly. Feet go RIGHT into the ground, even with wind pushing them back towards the rear axle. On the Uly? I can just let 'em dangle for miles...ah, well. Trade-off for stupid HP, I suppose : )

I have the high bars with Uly pegs and comfort seat. Purrfect combination.

Give the high bars a shot. With the clubmans the bike just felt like any old sport bike with its fairing blown off. With the high bars, it is like a 125 RWHP dirtbike. Ridiculously nimble and precise. Easily the most fun bike I have ever ridden.

Yeah...I have an S1W with stock bars if I want to sit up. Or the Uly, with the stock bars on 1" risers. I much prefer tucking out of the wind on the CR.

Since it has a habit of making so much wind, at triple-digit speeds.

TOTALLY the bike's fault. I had nothing to do with the "moving average" of 86.8mph on the GPS.

All the bike.

BTW, on our California trip, we discovered the speed limit from Odessa to ElPaso is posted at 80 MPH! So of course we rode between 90 and 95. (I think that was about a 200 mile stretch.) Man that was fun.

Just let me know. My work schedule is goofy, I'm off weds/sun (and usually have grass knee-high that I need to tend to...)...but I can use all the therapy rides I can get! : ) Lord knows the bikes need more exercise than I've been giving them lately....
