So I have a 2008 1125R that idles at 500. After doing some searches on here seems 1500 is the norm and that I can't adjust it.

So is this something I should be worried about?

I have the following mods on it:

PCV ( with a map off their site )
Barkers Exhaust
K&N Air Filter

that's it for perfomance rest are cosmetic.

how does it even stay running at 500 rpm? it must idle pretty rough. not sure about the PC but it should reset IAC if you let it idle for 10 min. i think ebrs ecm sets it at 1300 that might be the safe limit

The bike will not idle at 500rpm, my guess is that the instrument cluster is wrong and needs replacement.

I've actually seen my instrument cluster do that before once and never did it again. The bike was actually idling fine, but the tach said about 500 rpm. Then after a couple of times turning it on and off, it quit doing it. Yours seems like it must be stuck that way.

+1 for Froggy's remark, my bike is doing the same, however the "needle" is sitting down over the "lcd" screen of the instrument cluster when off, it should be sitting on the Zero, when running it sits just over zero.

Have a look at your's, you will also notice the rev limiter will come in at around 8.5-9k indicated as opposed to 10.5k+.

I have now been waiting over 7 weeks for a new one, its on backorder and is due to ship at the end of May.

Would a Helicon actually tick over at 500 rpm, with its light flywheel? I'd be very surprised!

Thanks guys I thought that was kind of odd too.

This is not the original cluster. Instead of replacing the speed sensor when my speedo would read 0 the Harley Dealer by me just shot gunned parts at my bike trying to fix it.

Even after bringing in the post from here saying it was common.

So I have a 2009 Cluster on my 2008.

Took me calling Harley directly before they replaced the speed sensor which I did from the dealer ship.

Guess what it hasn't read zero since....lol

I just left the Harley dealer yesterday... they ordered me a new cluster for my speedo going to 0 also... I'm ok with it thou as the display was getting weird lines in the background and I wanted a new cluster anyway. Will be back for the speed sensor once the cluster dose not fix that issue!

Do they cover speeding tickets from bad know issues in the cluster as part of the warranty?

You bet they do. They will cover the cost of your lawyer, and if the ticket is out of state you get a per diem and they pick up all your drinks and meals and lodging expenses.

If you lose they will contact the DA and using their high powered contacts in D.C. make the ticket go away and expunge it from your record.

I think you can even get a hooker.

you thought yours was bad idling at 500, my bike has defied all physics and idles at -300 RPM, lol. Took TWO visits to the dealership to get them to order me a cluster. That was about 2 months ago, and still waiting for the cluster. Love the HD guys in my area, they are always interested in hearing what the customer has to say, but it really sucks that they have to follow procedure set forth by HD.
