I have an 08 1125r with 8000 miles and I'm nervous about the rear bearings. Who has had them fail and what is the fix for them?

Thanks,
Scott

Mine are hanging in there with 19,747 miles.

Fix..."new bearings"...!

I wouldn't be nervous. I have over 30K on my original rear wheel bearings. I have had the front bearings replaced though.

The permanent fix is a 2010 wheel, with three (vs. 2) larger bearings and external dust seals.

Why so nervous? Do they look or feel boogered?

I would suggest that bearings aren't near worn out at the life of a tire, but your wheel cups may wear at a much higher than normal rate.

i think that if you don't power wash the bearings and properly tighten the axles they should last a long time

Thanks for the feed back. I've just heard of some failures on here.

Thanks,

They are perhaps more failure prone than some other makes, but not unreasonably so.

I've replaced most of the bearings a few times in my wheel sets, but I'm also doing a lot of track on them. On the sets I've gone with the Boca Bearings hybrids, I've not replaced them since. They are more expensive, but last longer.

I wouldn't worry about it, honestly. When you put the wheel on the balancer, you will know when it's time. They get notchy. In my experience, it starts with a notch or two, and you have several tire changes left before the are quite notchy and pose any real risk of failure.

on my 07 Scg i had a badly worn front bearing that when removed had visible play in it. that was at 8000 miles.

my CR is still under warranty, but next service i am making sure the dealer checks the bearings front and rear. only 6500 miles on it, but i am concerned they could be worn. it also pays to check and maybe replace the spacer.

I had the bearings on my 08 1125R replaced under warranty at about 4,000 miles.

The replacements have done another 4,000 miles so far ...
