I am doing some brainstorming for a custom mount of my HTC EVO and was thinking about anchoring to my clutch master cylinder cover.

What have you done to mount a phone, GPS?

anyone have an "extra" cover laying around?

I would just buy a seperate gps. Thats the only functuion that I can see that being useful. I have an Evo also. This is what I do. I ride with skull candy earbuds and listen to music on my Evo while I ride. I keep my phone in my inside chest pocket and can operate the volume easily through the jacket with my gloves on. If you use the blue navagation (not the sprint navigation... evo has both) it will cut out the music to tell you when to turn. You can also adjust the music and navigation volume seperately. I cant see the screen but I can understand the navigation voice pretty well. I havent gotten lost yet. The evo stays warm, dry and wont go bouncing down the road.

Same set up for me usually. Music with fuze molded ear phones and I have used the google GPS, it's great. EVO in my pocket

However, I am doing a long road trip, all back roads and think it would be extra convenient to see my device

scrolling through MP3 tunes, pandora, voicemail, GPS.....

texting LOL

Why would you need an extra MC cover? Just get one of the RAM mounts that go on top of the cover. They also make RAM mounts that will mount to the handle bars, and there is even a badwebber (Nuts4mc) that makes RAM mounts that attach to the fairing stay where the mirror is.

Best place for the phone is your pocket so (god forbid) when you fall on your ass you might be able to call for help. If it's out of reach on the bike or gone flying....

If your trying to listen to your earbuds while the phone is mounted the cord flapping in the wind is a real pain. I did it once and wont again.

Froggy is one of my evaluators - see this post - scroll down:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/626390.html

as far as audio cords - i run "IBA type-rallys" with a Vstrom and a GPS (TomTom Go) - run the audio down the fairing from the device, then under the tank and exit at the seat tank junction - I run my audio earphones cord under my jacket and connect when I sit down - easy connect and dis-connect when I dis-mount - no flapping wires...Oh, and it's against the law here in MC paradise to have both ears "plugged in"....be careful out there.

I usually ride with the phone in pocket and my NCom helmet, streaming music, GPS, phone ect., but one day I'll fire up the CNC and make a mount to fit the droid in the fairing below the speedo.

thanks

adaptiv mount seems pretty cool with the anivibration technology. control mount D-01-07 looks like it would bolt up to the reservoir too.

now to find 85.00
