I had a humiliating 3 mph gravel spill when I saw my neighbors car coming from around a corner. I have already accepted that I will have to buy a new lever. but the pushrod it normally contacts should be in a boot in my bike. currently I think I have it here on my desk with a scrap of rubber around the middle. Can I just stick the pin back in there to get it 20 miles to a mechanic or will I need to replace the rubber bit and look for damage further up the system? |

the rubber "boot" is just a dust cover- the pin pushes on a metal piston ( the metal piston/seal/spring is retained by a circlip)- you could just go to a bike salvage yard and see if they could match up your original lever - or maybe some one on the board has one to sell ( especially if they replaced theirs with an aftermarket "custom/shorty" levers) good luck |
