Drop the oil (two drain bolts), filter AND motor screen on the bottom of the bike.

Replace and pour in 3 qts.

Don't worry about it. When it shifts a touch sticky, repeat.

+1 on the fill and forget. If your 1125 is using enough oil to run dry you have MAJOR problems. I use 3 quarts after a complete change (filter, screen). As far as I can tell I use no oil, leak no oil, have no significant drop in oil. 26K miles now.

Look in your owners manual for the oil check procedure.
Follow it to the letter or you will get false readings.

Start the bike, when warmed up, ride it AT LEAST 10 miles.
Stop on a level spot and idle 3 minutes.
Shut the motor off, wait 3 minutes keeping the bike upright the WHOLE time.
Now, pull the dipstick, wipe it, re-insert in the motor, pull it and read the oil level.

Or do like Jim says, add 3 qts and ride until the next oil change.

Is it possible to get to the screen without removing the exhaust?

Not with the standard exhaust.

Be VERY careful with the screen bolts. The torque value is the absolute maximum imho. Do NOT be tempted to give them an extra tweak.
