I was just looking around and saw this Remus Powerizer for Buell 1125R & 1125CR (http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/283.html). Does anyone know any thing about this if it really works?

I'm a bit fuzzy on my pounds to dollars conversion rate, but that's either almost as expensive as, or more expensive than the Erik Buell Racing Race ECU, which does basically the same thing (fuels the bike properly for a free flowing exhaust without respect to emissions requirements - obviously for offroad track use only).

Does it work? Probably. I can't say I've used it.

Would I buy it? Nope. Not with the race ECU lounging about for $250. Best $250 I've ever spent on a vehicle...

The product does work (in the same way that a PC V does) but as previously noted it's the same price (inc shipping) as the Erik Buell Racing ECM which is a plug & play swap and it was designed/mapped by the engineeers responsible for creating the bike in the first place.

The vast majority of responses you'd be likely to get here will echo the "buy Erik Buell Racing" sentiment, (1) because it's the best product and (2) because it supports Erik Buell Racing and we really do want to keep those guys in business and creating new products for us all to enjoy.

Actually - just double checking but as you are in the US the Remus product will be quite a bit more expensive than the Erik Buell Racing ECM as it'll be ~$300 plus shipping...

I have the Remus exhaust on my 08. What Erik Buell Racing ecm would be best for my bike? I've e-mailed Erik Buell Racing and all they told me was they didn't have a tune for my bike.

I used the Erik Buell Racing race ECM on my 1125R with Remus exhaust (non-cat), this worked well but when I first ran the Remus can with the standard ECM low throttle openings caused rich running which caused the ECM to drop the AFV from a regularly monitored 100/105 to 85/95 which worried me since this would then suggest that the engine would be lean at WFO throttle.
I understand that the Erik Buell Racing race ECM resets the AFV to 100/100 every time the ignition is switched on which is fine by me.

DJ I have it on good authority that the E.B.R ECM does NOT reset the AFV it just shows them at 100, I'm guessing it's just the display which is locked.

The biggest difference with the Powerizer is that it works with your stock ECU and doesn't require any remapping or tuning. This means that if you decide to remove it for any reason (selling bike or going back to stock pipe etc) it will immediately revert to stock settings.
This is good for those that don't want to fit a race ECU or maybe worry about their warranty being honoured by dealers after fitting a race ECu to a road bike.

The Powerizer 'self adjusts' itslef within preset parameters (although there is now an adjustment cable and disc available to make changes to the tuning) so is also a good option for those who don't want to mess around with PCV tuning etc.

Some countries do not allow anything other than the stock ECU to be used so changing to a race ECU from Erik Buell Racing isn't always an option : )

If I want to sell my bike or put it back to stock settings, it's 10 minutes with a set of tools to put the stock ECU back on... (longer because I have the fairings I have to remove)

The race ECU is several times more "streetable" than the stock ECU. It smooths out the fueling. It's not a peaky race map or anything - it's substantially better than the stock map everywhere.

If your dealership gets cranky about the idea of a "race ECU," just swap the stock one back on before you take it in, or find a better dealership. My dealership doesn't care - I think they actually encouraged me to get one a while back.

And, really, who checks ECUs on motorcycles? Just swap the stock back on for emissions testing - you'd probably need to put the stock exhaust on anyway.

I'm not saying the Powerizer is a bad product - I'm sure it works as advertised.

I'm just saying that, for the 1125s, there's a better option, and that option is the Erik Buell Racing Race ECU.

Avalaugh - you could be right, I was told however that the AFV always reset to 100/100 so as tuners at the track would be able to set repeatable baselines etc
