Is it difficult to change the fork oil? I read the factory repair manual, and was hoping someone here might have some shortcuts or tips to make it easier. I don't want to have to buy specialty tools if I don't have to. I have my wheels off the bike for new tires. I'm thinking if it is easy, I might go ahead and change the fork oil while the wheels are off. My forks are clicking/clunking. I can handle dang near any mechanical project. I am just wondering if the instructions in the manual make it harder than it needs to be.

It's not too bad. There are a couple of tricky spots, so it's worth reading up on servicing forks.

You will need a fresh set of seals.

Pat,
Throw your wheels on. You really wanna do this a few weeks before the trip? Should I clean up the XB for ya? Lol
Not challenging your mechanical skills, just sayin'......

I'm thinking about it. If the girlfriend's kid is at a b-day party I might shoot out there. Also have motorcycle rodeo (D/FW police competition) that is interesting to watch going on in Coppell.

Dang it. I guess I'll go order the seals, and wait for parts again. I'll change the fork oil after I get back from the trip. My new tires have a nice round profile. I'd probably enjoy visiting a track day, but I can't go out on the track. I don't have my motorcycle pants. I'm ordering them this weekend. My wife won't let me go to the Dragon without full gear. Kevyn, If you decide to run out to the track, let me know. Maybe we can find a twisty road somewhere on the way.
