I am putting high bar kit on my bike having a lot of throttle binding when I turn left any suggestions?

Reroute your throttle cables. They are picky, and if you don't have them perfect they will bind on you.

Slightly bend the mounts where the cables attach to the fuel injection. If I remember correctly, take some needlenose pliers and bend them a little to give the cables a little more room. This is a common problem and there is a good thread on here from a year ago somewhere explaining this.

These cables are tough to get right! I also think they would work better if an inch shorter.

The route they take has to follow the old cables as much as possible. As I remember they went down and then a long sweep up to the bars. longest smooth route you can take inside the headlamp casing. Most of my binding came from the inside frame route to the throttle bodies from the head stock.

when i did mine a was lucky & did them along with another one at the same time. mine was binding & the other one was not. it was the routing behind the fly screen that was the issue. mess around in that area around the wiring harness & fork neck.

Mine seems to be binding at the forks and behind the fly screens...is there any pics that anyone has of the routing of the cables...that would help out? Thank you

what cme2c said you have to bend the cable clamp a 1/16 or less a it should work fine.There is a thread on here some were in the archives.I routed and rerouted the cables ten times before i found the thread on the clamp bend.

Thanks... I have tried searching the archives most of what I've come up with is people complaining about the cables binding...not much of a solution. When you bend the bracket do you take the bracket off the throttle body or just leave it on and bend it with channel locks?

leave it on and the cables to bend it a little then try the throttle lock to lock.I played with it until i found the sweet spot.

There is a trick I don't have the pics anymore but where the cables go into the throttle body you must place both the nuts on the inside to give maximum cable length on the bottom cable then make sure you wiretie the cables back in there spot under the triple tree on frame. Then completely slack at the throttle it should be ok but before you just go ahead with it make sure you turn the handle bars all the way left and make sure it does not bind when you roll full on and release. It's a PITA but worth it.
