Due to a crash I broke my speedometer

So I'm waiting for the new one Y0500.3AMA for Buell 1125CR 2010.
But a question came to me...
Where is stored the info of the speedometer? I mean the total miles of the bike, It has an internal memory? or is in the ECM?
(The trip 1 - 2 info and lap timers, doesn't matter to me)
So if it's in internal memory how can I transfer the total mileage on the new one? I need the official dealer?

And by the way, anyone knows how can I re-enable the display, because when I start up in display appears "THEFT ERROR" and stays on it, if it's possible of course.
Besides this the bike go well.

mind if I ask what the new cluster is costing you?
And will any year bolt right up to any other year bike?
I do wish I had the gear indicator on mine

When you install the NEW IC, all that will show is a 20 minute countdown timer.
Make sure everything is working properly as it counts down.

When it gets to zero, VIN, mileage and stored DTCs will transfer from the ECM to the IC.
You will only "lose" miles accrued during the countdown and the IC will be "married" to the ECM as the countdown ONLY runs one full cycle, can't do it again....

While we're on the subject, my speedo and odometer read about 10% high at least. It's not due to a worn tire as has been suggested (new tire, no change) any possible way to adjust?

The speedo Y0500.3AMA cost in lakeshore 220$ plus shippment plus taxes.

Hybridmomentspass, as far as I know, the 2010 CR is cannot use the 2009 clusters, due to a new hardware modifications involving the turn lights (blinkers).

Zac, so when I install the new one I must check al wirings before I turn on the key right?
Then the ECM will transfer the mileage/Km data to the new one, right?

And Zac to make things clear...
IC = Instrument Cluster?

Ros - spot on.

The 20 minute timer is for the dealer techs to be able to swap a new one in and make sure it's the right solution but with a chance to back out if it isn't.

Yes - IC=Instrument Cluster

So as mine is junk (crashed/smashed) I'll do the change myself, so I hope no troubles came when I install the new one.
Or I need some special equipment to install it? Equipment, I mean specific computer/cable/software that only dealers have.

no special equipment, just on data/ power cable connector to the ic, and three nuts to hold the ic on.

I got you beat, look at the ic after my wreck

This is the ic cable that goes into the back of the ic.
It hit the ground so hard it smashed through the ic and crushed the connector.

I'll be impressed if you can change the colour, it's the LCD panel that lights up Orange rather than any light source.

I'm not saying it can't be done but it'd mean changing the panel itself for another one that has the same display capabilities and I think that'll be a struggle to find.
