That Guy in the article that said he applauded Erik but sort of hinted he would have trouble because sportbike sales are down is wrong IMHO. Jap sportbike sales have dropped dramatically because when you buy the hottest thing from Japan this year it is blown away by next years's hot model so your "last year" hot bike is seriously devalued. When Ducati dropped their 1098 bomb a few years back and priced it around $15,000, all of a sudden an Exotic sportbike was within reach of a much larger segment of the market. I think Japan sportbikes are awesome but on bike night somewhere ya gotta figure which GSXR is your cause they all look the same (600's 750's and 1000's), not to mention the half dozen fat tired Busa's there, Ninja's R1's & CBR's too. Buell is special and IMHO will sell well after these initial high dollar versions are gone and he puts out bikes similar to his 1125's. I just like the idea of an American made V twin powered, torque laden sportbike myself and would be very interested in a Naked 1190CR with the grunt to run with the 1198 Duc! Erik, if you read this man, go for it cause there are a bunch of us out here waiting for Buell "Stage Extreme"!!! (Message edited by zcat on February 17, 2011) |
