Has anybody found a solution to the instrument cluster misting up ?

After 3 years my 08 R is suffering really badly - the "glass" is water marked on the inside and when it mists up it obscures the speed readout. HD would not replace it when I put in a warranty claim as it wasn't deemed bad enough at the time - well it is now but unfortunately the warranty is out.

Anybody tried sealing it ?

Can a second hand one be fitted ?

Are there any alternatives on the market ?

I don't want to replace it with a new one as they are not cheap and it may not cure the problem anyway, as my 2010 CR mists up just as badly !

As I recall...Humm! If the misting cluster has been reported to the same servicing stealership you go to at any point in time before the warranty is up, you may have a valid case for a new IC.
I am sure someone here on the Badweb can go a little more into detail.
I hope this gets your nose on the right track

Don't ride unless it's sunny warm and dry, had my 08 cluster replaced last year for misting up. Was fine all through the summer, but now it's the same.

Unfortunatly another quirk : )

It may be one of those "Internet Myths" but I am fairly sure I've read the same as 1125rcya was saying.

If you reported it during the warranty period and it exhibits the same symptoms out of warranty then in theory you have some coverage..

I ride my 09 in all weathers and don't have the same issue.. But I may get a new IC this year as I have the low fuel issue when cold..

I have a small problem as the supplying dealer no longer exists (TVHD) so I have no proof that I asked for it to be changed - I can just imagine the response I'm likely to get from HDB ...

I had my first IC misted, dealer changed a new one for me , the second one is misted too...

someone said its normal with moisture in and out when the IC is not sealed.

so my suggestion would be just leave it there, and change a new one when it's really bad.

If anybody has a bad cluster that is not working, I need the mode and toogle rubber button covers.
