I have put a set of Michelin Pilot Road 3 tyres on my Mule and they are feeling fantastic.
One thing I have learned over the years is that tyres are a very personal choice to riders. What one person may love another may loath… but this is my opinion on the PR3. My riding consists of 99% spirited road riding – bends are best… try to avoid the straight roads.
With the excellent handling of the 1125R, the temperate climate of the UK and my riding style (greatest ambition to keep shiny side up), these tyres feel great. A marked improvement on the stock Pirelli’s.Perhaps I wasn't working them hard enough.
I was always a fan of the Pilot Road 2’s which I had on my VFR but these seem to be a step up. Even in the damp days of the UK winter they give total confidence and excellent feedback.
The Road Pilot 3’s perhaps have a slightly flatter profile than some tyres on the market, they maybe don’t turn in as quickly as the Pirelli’s but they do feel firmly planted and produce plenty of camber thrust to slingshot you through the bends. If anything, they feel more controllable and comfortable.
I was slightly concerned that the XST Sipes (extra slits) would pick up debris from the road but so far they are not picking anything up.
Due to the compound match, these tyres should be fitted in pairs.
Classed as Sport Touring I guess that’s what they’re aimed at. Since my riding is Sporty touring, they suit me down to the ground.
After only managing 2000 miles from my Corsair 3 rear (600 miles of that running in) I’m looking forward to some extra longevity of the Michelin’s.

I want to try one of those on the back with a Pilot Power 2CT on the front. I'm due for a change on the rear...and I need something that will wear longer.

Are these the sport touring line? What millage do you see with them?

Dual compound front & rear with slightly different rubber on each... I was getting around 6500+ on Pilot Road 2’s on my VFR including some hard riding. The Pilot Road 3’s are supposed to give more but what the walloping torque of the V-twin will do to them – especially the rear - I’m not sure. I’m hoping for at least 5000 but I guess it depends how hard you twist the throttle.

I spoke to a tyre specialist on Sunday at the EXCEL MCN show. He said the pilot road 3's are exactly the same compound as 2ct's just with the added XST sipes (groves) added to greatly improve grip in wet/damp weather, so you should see the same mileage as 2ct's.

Great tyre imo, ill be getting a set soon.

i have PR2CT's on my 1125r and LOVE them, i BEAT the crap out of them harder than someone should a sport touring tire and i still get (if you can believe me) 10k MI. out of the rear and about 14k out of the front....im not jokin idk how i did it, but i got about 3-4 times the life of my stock corsa III's

The PR2's had a very heavy front tire for a sport bike. Made the turn in noticeably slower on my 1125R. Grip and mileage were great so other than the sluggish turn in, I really liked them.

I'd be curious if the PR3's still have a heavy front tire. For those of you trying them, could you compare the weight of the front tire to a traditional sport tire and report back?

Installed a set of PR3's on my CR the end last week. After almost 300 miles of straights and twisties I really like these tires. Great feel and handling.

Been out in the extreme wet today and the pr3's work very well. No aquaplaning and very sure footed on the bends.
