You know the feeling when you're in the zone and the riding just.... FLOWS? Like you're going quickly and it's sort of effortless?
That's how it was today.

And yes, the tires/steering damper improvements made a big diff, but there was something more going on here.

Anyway, a couple pix from this morning's ride for you snowbounders.

Those hills are beautiful!

There is one consolation, absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Sounds like you found some confidence by adding the steering stabilizer, she lost the twitchyness?

What were the temperatures, your tires and tire pressures?

Danny:
It was a glorious day. Just under 70 degrees, tires at 32f/34r, damper makes the bike corner as if on rails. Didn't have a tire temp meter with me... but they warmed up and grip pretty quickly. As someone noted in a previous thread though, you do NOT wanna throw these things into a fast tight corner before they're warm.

All that twitchiness/hunting for a line our bikes do in corners (especially where there's uneven or rippled pavement) is GONE.

Oh and YES I had checked steering head for bearing wear/play prior to installing.

Some other thoughts for those of you who are jealous:

Yes, we have weather here for year-round riding.

But we have earthquakes and the psychological burden of NEVER knowing when/if the big one is gonna hit (unlike tornadoes or hurricanes that you can kind of prepare for), super high cost of living (compared to, say, rural Wisconsin), gang violence, higher crime rates, a shittier school system than half the African nations, a gargantuan and disfunctional city bureaucracy, too many cops at too many speed traps and $2/hour parking meters. The average forward driving speed (including averaging in 3am when there's hardly anyone out except drunks, cops and cabbies), is ONLY 14mph. So it takes FOREVER to get anywhere in a car. There are a couple of hideous bottlenecks near me where you can literally spend an hour going a mile.

etc etc

So yeah, even though you aren't riding today, at least you don't have all that...
right?

On the other hand, it's 76degrees outside today. No wind. The bike is fueled, clean and ready for action... and it's sitting in the garage.

I'm not riding because of a long list of honey-do's (right now for example I'm hearing, "Are you on the computer? I thought you promised you'd finish working on the side yard..."

We all got our problems.

GTG before things get ugly around here...
