Took the CR into the HD dealer for a scheduled clutch weep fix. While waiting, they tell me there is a nail in the rear tire. Sure enough, looks like a small roofing nail. It's not leaking. 100 miles on new Michelin.
Ordered another (their price delivered was almost as good as on line ), rode home. When the tire comes in, we'll pull out the nail and see how deep it is. If deep, I'll put on the tire. If not, I'll have a spare.
On a side note, the clutch warranty kit replaces several components, and in addition, they replaced my cap which I had scratched in a parking lot dump. No charge.

Its up to you, but i plugged my tire when it got a wire in it. it was all the way through and was leaking. initially i had no choice. Later i decided that i would take my chances..

I know there are plenty of people that will not use a plugged tire and i also agree, but i was in a pinch and for 4k miles, it worked fine.

I will plug and patch my tires if they are >50% new.

The HD dealer won't plug a tire. I could try, but I'd rather not worry.

tech tire company makes a plug patch that from the inside you pull the plug through that has a patch built on it also. so it plugs & patches it at the same time. works great.
dibs! (if you wanna get rid of it i could sure use it) oh, and as long as the nail is in the center area...

Oh, I'm gonna take the tire and plug it once it's off, and keep it for the next replacement. Those plugs are great.

Plugging while on the bike, however, is a bit shaky.

I use the second from the top kit, cyclegear sells them, etc. the shops I know now all use the plug/patch, so I bought my own kit. Helped me out twice so far.

Under warranty, they replace several parts, including the puck, I believe. It is apparently a 45 min fix. I haven't seen a recall notice however.
